Musicians Friend seems to no longer have the AVRI Stratocaster. Which usaully means the instrument is discontinued. This kinda bums me out because this was going to be my next ax. Looks like I will have to get a used one off ebay

It is still on Fender's site. http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0100100805 —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Musicians Friend not carrying something doesn't mean it is being discontinued. They don't have the largest stock. Also, buying it off ebay is better. Your strat is going to have character when you get it. Personally, if I'm going to be gigging, I'd rather buy a used guitar. |

okay, sorry for the false alarm. They pulled it off the site for a few days and changed the description slightly. I believe they still are carrying it. |

neptune, that is definetly a nice axe. I love the matching headstock. But right off the bat I'd have to swap the pups. Maybe make a few more mods. How is it treating you overall? |

after setup, I could not put it down. I have a real 63, and it is identical in weight. All the parts (except electronics) are vintage spec. The body resonates a lot when you strum it acoustically (it has a laquer finish). The pups are a bit lifeless, so I bought a MOT guard and I am putting a three-way with the new set (not sure, may just go seymour Duncan vintage) I am going to put the old pickguard and harness in a bag and stash it. I would have changed pups anyway. The only thing that bugs me is the hole for the truss-rod but on the other hand it's the double-acting rod and it is very easy to get to. The 9-1/2" radius suits me fine, sounds pretty radiused but you can bend for days with a comfortable action. The medium frets are smooth, shiney and perfect. It just needed a trussrod tweek and a filed nut and it plays as good as they get. MOst of all I am a sucker for a matching headstock. Tom —THe NEpTuNeS |

Have you considered the 60's series Strats? I don't care much for Strats anymore these days personally, but if I had to get one, I'd probably check into one of these: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-60s-Stratocaster-Electric-Guitar?sku=510135 —Paul |
