They played at Pepperland Records in Orange about 3 or 4 years back, with the Torquays, Duo-tones, and Rich Knight's Surftones from Encinitas. Boy you missed a good one that day, but you were out protecting and serving back then.

yes the supertones are form the nyc (and we also play that gig at perrerland in orange a few year back with ric knight's band as back up that was a really fun gig for us(the west coast crowd was realy awesone they totaly got what we were doing and the torquays were insane i realy love them(i was born in the south bay in the 50's and learn how to play guitar by listening to the daune eddy, the ventures and the fireballs and in the late 70's end up here in nyc and worked at a guitar store in the chelsea hotel for 20 years, and around 1986 i started the supertones mainly to play ventures, shadow and raybeat & the real surf stuff here in nyc, at that time nobody knew what we were doing they only knew the beach boys stuff and not the instro surf stuff(at that time most nyc hated the beach boys you know that mike love kinda thing). now they get it just look at the unsteady freddy, and NESMA shows here in nyc /their's got to be 30 surf bands now here in the north east.
there was a ska band out of O.C. ca./called the o.c.supertones.we had them change there name form the supertones to o.c. supertones those guy are not us we don't have a horn section and don't sing.

Carol,
Yes I know who the Supertones are, I have all the cd's and was way stoked that 2 of them came out here and played. They ripped it up.
and The Surftones were the back up band for Them.
There have been many Surftones over the years.
The Original was Dave Myers and the Surftones,
Then for the past 20+ years Matt Quilter of the Reventlos, and Kerry Chester, X member of DD's Deltones, and others had a band that did
classic rock and surf tune covers. called the Surftones.
Then there was NY area Lady guitarist, Susan and the Surftones.
then Rich Knight, who has recorded a song or two with CHUm recently, and was also in a surf band in the 80's called the Ripp Tides, had a band outta Encinitas area( near San Diego) all covers, called the Surftones, Mel from Golly Gee, contacted them to be the back up band for the 2 Supertones guitarists for that Peperland gig,
It was video'd and audio recorded, But the guy skipped town, Mel can't get ahold of him, great stuff, would be cool if it saw the light of day sometime.
and I am sure there are more. but I'm having a brain fart.
also a band not from US called the Surfones(sp?)

I can't wait to see these guys live. Whenever I program my playlist I always have to adjust the Surpertones order because live365 has a new policy that won't allow me to play the same band twice in an hour. I guess I have too mant Supertones on my playlist of 467 tracks.
