Ok so I have an old traynor yvm-1, 4 ohm 50 watt head
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp6bP7O83ao
and I will be using a malekko chicklet or tonecandy spring fever for reverb
I want a 15" speaker to complete the rig
I've been considering weber's
Cali 15 ceramic w/paper dome
15F150
Neomags
15A150
I'm looking for that neil young dead man sound
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6aCMgy0ES4
but I'd also love a great clean surfy dick dale sound
which speaker paired with my amp can pull off both?
alnico or ceramic?
the amp has a master volume to pushing it to breakup and keeping it clean is easy.
also, anyone use beamblockers?
thanks

Neil Young uses a 12" speaker in his Tweed Deluxe, which is most likely Jensen-equipped (right? And his tech has fixed it multiple times).
If you're looking for Neil Young in a 15" speaker format. I'd suggest getting something like an Eminence Legend 1518, as it's geared to a more Jensen-like sound. If you want a more Dick Dale/JBL sound, the Commonwealth 15 by Eminence would probably be better.
Mind you, I haven't played either, but both have peaked my interest.

I've been a confirmed JBL/EV user for many years. Recently I bought a MusicMan Sixty-five, 212 combo with mis-matched, non-original speakers and replaced them with a pair of older gold-backed, 16 ohm Vintage 30's. I finally had a chance to play several guitars through them, and WOW! Everything sounded great. I have a couple of instruments I was on the verge of selling, because they weren't getting the sound I wanted. One is a DeArmond M-77T with American DeArmond single coils; the othe a MIM mid-50's RI Fender Esquire with a Seymour Duncan PU and a Calliham Bridge. Through this amp & speaker combo, both just kill. I ran the amp through a 112 EV open-backed cab and 115 JBL Showman cab w/ tone ring and the sound was not there. Haven't tried any of my heads through the V-30's-maybe next weekend, but I expect I'll be looking for another pair and a Bandmaster cab to use with my Showman.

I've decided to go with the weber neomag 15" 4 ohm for the jbl sound.
its 75 watts, is there a chance of me blowing it with my 50 watt amp?
would you recommend paper or aluminum dome?
all paper smooth cone, no dope vs. all paper smooth cone, dope vs. cloth surrounded smooth cone vs. cloth surrounded ribbed bass cone?
thanks for all your help!

Not much chance of blowing up a 75 w speaker with a 50 w amps. Speaker wattage ratings are usually pretty conservative..

Good choice, I personally love these speakers. I've own a NeoMag 15", California ceramic 15", Emminence 15" and JBL D130F. My favorites from the bunch are the NeoMag and of course the JBL.
I would get the aluminum dome and cloth surrounded smooth cone if you want the JBL sound. It's perfectly safe running it through a a 50 watt amp as long as the ohms match
