Her execution of the song is good, but I have to agree with BTD's comment about the tone. Well, maybe I'm just ambivalent about it... surf played on a 'non-surf' guitar, with distortion, just rankles. On the other hand, at least it's not another guy playing the usual song with the usual rig in the usual way. Not my favorite version, but I think (a bit reluctantly) that it works better than I would have expected. If you check her other songs, you'll see that she's by no means a surf specialist. Top

As far as equipment, that is true also - granted. I don't think she was attempting 'surf purity' though. I think she was just playing her guitar in a house.
