I was trying to find the name of a 60s band who covered the William Tell Overture.. Was is somebody and the stingers??

Anyhow, i found this youtube of the Rapiers instead. Smile

B. Bumble & The Stingers did it under the title "Apple Knocker." There's other versions from that era, too - The Piltdown Men ("Piltdown Rides Again"), The Crossfires ("Silver Bullet") and Davie Allan & the Arrows.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Hahahahaha!! The Rapiers are great. I think here they copied the schtick of the Piltdown Men, who used to run in place while playing that song back in the early '60s.

I remember that song by an English group called Sounds Incorporated....a big horn band that rocked....i like the Rapiers version too and i also like the Rapiers version of Telstar. I won't go into what a warm beautiful day it is here on Kauai.....rock on! Cool

Hmmm, come to think of it, the Rapiers may have been copying Sounds Inc. with the running in place, not the Piltdown Men. I think I got it mixed up. Nevertheless, what a blast!
