I realize Newbies get excited about new things...but I have truly caught the Surf Music bug in a major way. Last night I can't get this simple melody out of my head. So, I come home from work for lunch today and never go back. I played all instruments and recorded the tune this afternoon. I call it Walk The Nose.

I realize much surf music has similar elements, and I put many of those in this tune. But, like one person in the forum said, I am beginning to fear I might be stealing a melody...please let me know if I did. I am trying to stay away from 1,4,5 chords.

Although I tend to like harder-edged stuff, both your tunes were fun listening. Walk The Nose never struck me as ripping off anyone's else's tune -- that I'm familiar with, anyway.
Do you also count The Split Enz among your influences? The second song brought them to mind a couple of times -- not in a 'stolen melody' way, but stylistically. Congrats one playing all the instruments, by the way! I'm always envious of people who can do that.

Yes...I am a child of the 70s and 80s (and 90s and 00s and soon 10s). Split Enz were great back in the day. <i>I Got You</i> is a classic.
Although I've played guitar (poorly) for years, I just started writing my own stuff a few months ago. Bass and drums came pretty easy (playing them well is another thing). I record everything at home with a couple mics, and I love producing. Actually, I prefer a harder sound as well. But, I have been watching some old Ventures videos, and gravitated to that clean sound. Thanks.
