I see that the Hallmark Sweptwing - made famous by The Kilaueas - is now available for sale through Musician's Friend (The "Sears Catalog" of musical instrument mail-order catalogs.):

Will this mean a sudden spike of Kilaueas cover bands in the USA???

There's bound to be a surge of cheap Hallmark copies flooding the market, as soon as Ralf inks the contract to play "The Kilaueas" Model Hallmark!

Ralf actually said he's working on getting an endorsement deal from Hallmark. I hope it happens - I'm sure at least a few Hallmark guitars have been purchased by folks that have seen the Kilaueas live recently.
Heck, I don't even play 6-string guitar and I want one....I do have my eyes on the bass though! I just wish I played bass in the Toga Kings instead of organ.

I ain't gonna lie... I've been thinking about one more and more each day. I think someone asked a while ago if anyone had played one -- what was the response to that question? I know Jake said he got to fool around on Ralf's a little bit. Anyone else?

Rick from the Volcanos has one. I posted to the Yahoo Group part of an email he and I traded about some of the tweaks he had done to it. Rick also has a vintage Hallmark that he plays in the 3-D Invisibles! If he doesn't chime in here I will go dig up the old Yahoo Group post.

Also,
Anyone who has been to Hallmark's site knows that Deke Dickerson strongly endorses them as well. One of my friends who recently saw him in the Bay Area talked to him at length after the show, and he couldn't stop raving about them, and kept encouraging him to "buy one while you can".

Yeah, I like mine. I had a few issues that had to be resolved when I got it. I had to replace the nut (G string kept popping out) and a pickup. I don't remember, may have been something else. Anyway, I'm guessing these were flukes and Bob Shade was very cool about taking care of things.
Now it's a cool guitar. Plays well, sounds good. I like it a lot.
It's still second fiddle to my Jazzmaster, though.
