Pop Surf Culture - Whoâs got the book already?

My favorite quote currently is Johnny Bartlett saying: See, a lot of surf bands (in recent years) got it so wrong. Its not just the guitar you use, or the sound you get, or the clothes you wear its the whole package. I encourage anyone with an interest in Surf to buy it asap. The whole package means the following: haircut, shoes, attitude, off-stage behavior, onstage behavior, vocabulary, record collection, board length - you get the picture? You should live it from the ends of your hair to the tips of your toes. I'm not only doing it for that reason though. I've wanted to surf since before I liked surf music. — Sonichris I also like to think that all early 60's fender equipment is happy to be playing surf music again. But theres those guys who dont want to or cant surf and this book can virtually built the necessary knowledge, impressions, world, whatever around them. I had wanted to surf, or at least try it one day in the mid seventies as little kid in front of german TV. It must have been Crystal Voyager and another 70s film they showed. There were also photos of surfing in magazines ones in a while. Then I discovered rocknroll and skateboards and still didnt know about surf music, but that changed in the summer I turned 12 in 1978 via the Beach Boys. I kind of hope it doesn't become mainstream, like the way MTV tryed to make rock n roll. That's why there's no good modern rock bands really. Surf is one of the last genres with good modern musicians IMO. Blues, IDK, I really only listen to older stuff. — Sonichris I also like to think that all early 60's fender equipment is happy to be playing surf music again. And rock band is a terrible term. Let us just call them bands. A good band is a good band regardless of era, genre, or gender. Top

What are you, the haircut police? I don't talk in 50 year old slang, I don't wear "vintage" clothes, and my behavior onstage or offstage is not some kind of "bygone era" reenactment charade.
