The Duo-tones, two guitarists, acoustically.

I also like to think that all early 60's fender equipment is happy to be playing surf music again. After all, its the music it was meant to play.

Has anyone seen or been a part of a 2 pc?

My drummer from my main band and I are working on a new project which is very surf influenced. Not traditional surf but more toward the horror/sci-fi side.
We had been thinking of a keyboard player but we've decided to just do it as we are.
We will be using some electronic elements in the music as well ( like I said, not so traditional ) to round things out...
I am mainly interested in seeing other 2 pc bands though. Anyone?

Thanks!

Your electronic reference brought this to mind Dig the sparse keyboard work early on and the whammy pedal during the "solo". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkO8Zg-WHno

I usually find duos kind of lacking. I'm sure there are tons of exceptions, but this is generally my experience. I find that I tend to miss the instrument that's not being played. I must clarify that this really only applies to LIVE acts. That's certainly not the case with Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited. Their recorded stuff is GREAT, but I don't see how they could ever do it live.

Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited is great. But yeah, if they were to tour they'd need four or five people.

Here's a sample for anybody who isn't familiar with the band.

My friend and I have a two-piece band:

I did a Country/Rock duo for a while and had a lot of fun with it. The other fellow played rhythm guitar like a dynamo, steady, strong and reliable as the sun. I played a Jag Bass VI holding down the bass part but also doing a few fills etc on the top strings. It worked quite well.

When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar.

I was talking to Lee of Dionysus records(who puts out their cds) last night at a tiki event, and he said that he had talked to them about coming over to play next years tiki oasis, and the guys said that they would need to have 7 people to recreate the songs like on the cd.
and that it was prob to cost prohibitive,

Hey Jeff, do you know if they (SSSU) are still doing anything? It's so hard to find any info about them. I wish they were more visible.

Hey! Don´t forget this guys...

Indeed the most fabulous duo ever !!!!! (with the permission of Jan & Dean)

I think that's part - or most - of their schtick.

-Warren

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I'm in 2 duo's as well as the band, just different horses for different courses.

Although neither of the duo's are what you'd call 'Surf' music, we just play a few quieter surf tunes acoustically.

For me though, I like the White Stripes, they can get going.

all I know is they have a 5th cd out, that I didn't know about for a year or so.
other than that, I would say contact Lee at Dionysus, and ask him.
