Has anyone seen or been a part of a 2 pc?
My drummer from my main band and I are working on a new project which is very surf influenced. Not traditional surf but more toward the horror/sci-fi side.
We had been thinking of a keyboard player but we've decided to just do it as we are.
We will be using some electronic elements in the music as well ( like I said, not so traditional ) to round things out...
I am mainly interested in seeing other 2 pc bands though. Anyone?
Thanks!

'house of freaks' from virginia. i saw them open for 'midnight oil' years back. they rocked the house. unfortunately one of them, along with his family, was murdered in their home in a random act of violence.

FLAT DUO JETS - the ultimate two-piece.
Amen to that - Dexter Romwebber is a guitar god.
Also, the Black Keys.

I saw House of Freaks open for Midnight Oil at the Hollywood Palladium, they were great! Not only a 2-piece but the drummer used only a floor tom which he sometimes hit with a partially full Jack Daniels bottle. They sounded like 4 people, that guy could sing too! I talked to Bryan Harvey that night and I still get chills thinking about his murder.
On a brighter note, I am in a 2-piece The Sea Hunters which plays covers at occasional art shows. Guitar and Sax with bass/drums programmed. I will switch to bass sometimes and we will jam with the sax, bass & drums.
Another duet: Lee Michaels (organ-formerly of the Sentinals) with Frosty on drums.

Another House of Freaks fan here. I saw them open for Midnight Oil in DC years ago. What happened to Bryan Harvey and his family is beyond tragedy.
Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper is another two-piece outfit... not instrumental though.

Messer Chups!
I was going to post messer chups but I figured they dont count, they are actually a three piece that sometimes play with a drum machine instead of the drummer, or so I understood.
I saw them as a twopiece two years back, and was rather unerwhelmed. then I didnt gop next time they played and afterwards heard they played as threepiece and totally kicked ass. my bad.

if you'r e not afraid of something new (and like joy division) check out Zzz (from Amsterdam) live they play with drums and a hammond organ, and KILL. this video is great too. defintly not even remotely surf related though.

We once played at a house party with some metal two-piece. I forget their name exactly--apparently it was Chinese for "Racist White Devil" or something like that. They were totally bizarre--just drums and a Gibson SG (with tons of digital processing) raging through songs about Chinese imperialism and Sino-American relations and whatnot. I remember one of the songs lasting about half a day, and others lasting about twenty seconds. Even despite being mostly just heavy noise, it was still a thin sound as a two-piece. I don't really get it--the novelty doesn't compensate for the lack of appeal.
Also, after their set (which was early on in the party) they asked to borrow some guy's car for whatever reason, and by the time we left at the end of the night they still hadn't been heard from. Weird scene.

American Relay which play and tours out of Denver is a guitarist and a drummer/dobro-player. They do mostly blues, which I think must lend itself more to that.
