Ferenc,
Thanks for the info on that THUNDERBIRDS song.
I followed the link, but it says the CD is not available.
Do you, or anyone else know where I can find one?
It seems to pop up somewhat frequently on eBay. Aside from the Surf Coasters' song, though, it's pretty bad.

The Purple Orchid show was amazing - I've never seen that place so packed. And by people there to see the show, no less. A lot of times it's crowded but 80-90% of the people there are just there to drink, but this time the vast majority were there for the bands, which was cool. It's always great to spend some time with old friends, who I'm not going to name individually since I didn't get the names of all 100+ in attendance and wouldn't want to leave anyone out.
Even though the new Surf Coasters material isn't my favorite (it sounds like if you took the three Runabout soundtracks and dumped off all the good songs), it was still impressive to see them play live again. The fun they were having on stage was infectious, and Slacktone (or The Slacktones, according to the doorman) just killed.
Also, I drove twenty miles - each way, damnit - to get there. That's four, count 'em, four freeways. I demand recognition! Oh, and a medal of some kind.
Or at least a cookie.

Very cool. Surf Coasters can brighten even the darkest room with Beach Monster.

Great to see the Surf Coasters enjoying an actual fan base. Here they are signing autographs after their Blank Club show in San Jose. How many Surf bands get to have this experience? eh?

It's about a 60 mile drive... an hour or so...
It took 2-1/2 hours to get home....got tired and pulled over for a nap!
I fell asleep at the wheel and crashed once before...will never do that again.

Doesn't matter if you walked up or flew across the country, I know everybody staggered home! Thanks again to everybody for coming to see The Surf Coasters and all the excellent bands they played with at every show.

somebody on the Mermen list just posted this live surf coasters show.
The Surf Coasters show from Moe's Alley is available at,
http://www.archive.org/details/surfcoast2008-09-09.flac16
I could use some help on some missing song titles. Also, it doesn't
sound as good as the Shi-Tones recording from the same night. The
drums
are a little strong and the guitar is a little too low in the mix,
but
the Surf Coasters are still great.
