I'd say the bottom line on costs was $9.00 per adult, $6.00 per child or senior (62-99), free otherwise; $5.00 for parking in the fair lot, or free if you use the shuttles from free parking; plus, of course, refreshments, gas to get there, sunscreen to survive it, etc. It's about an hour from L.A.

I think this means they get two time slots, one continuous show. Caught Red Handed has the stage at 7:00 and no one else is mentioned after that but the Eliminators. Other acts listed for the Grandstand (Doobie Brothers) and Pepsi Stage (minor). In my limited experience fair stage transitions and timing are pretty much on the advertised mark.

DIRECTIONS FROM LOS ANGELES
The Ventura County Fairgrounds are located on the beach in the city of Ventura, about 1 hour north of Los Angeles.
From the Ventura Freeway (Highway 101) northbound, take the Seaward Ave. exit or the California Street exit. Turn left towards the ocean to Harbor Blvd., turn right on Harbor and continue until you reach The Ventura County Fairgrounds at the corner of Harbor and Figueroa.

Information not updated since 2006, but probably they're OK ... Actually, the page for 2008 is dated for 2007 and promises to update the 2006 information in time for 2007.
2006 SHUTTLE AND PARKING INFORMATION
On-site parking accommodates fewer than 2000 vehicles and the charge is $5.00 per vehicle.
However, free shuttle service is provided daily during the Fair from 10:30am until 11:00pm from the six off-site parking locations listed below.

The Fair will open at 11:00 a.m. daily except Saturdays, Sundays, And Seniors & Persons with Disabilities Day (Tuesday, August 5) when it will open at 10:00 a.m.
General Admission Prices
Adults 13 & older $9.00
Children 6-12 $6.00
Seniors 62 and older $6.00
Children 5 & under and Super Seniors (100 years and over) admitted Free!
I don't know if there's a small memorial at the Ventura County Line on the way up or not.
The Beach Boys are playing Monday.
Still pretty cool, though. Just not quite the way I thought ...
