I was cleaning up my closets and found a couple of Mel-tones videos. One was the original Rhode Island version of the group, taken sometime in the summer of 1995. Dig the crazy guitar synth playing bass and organ! Next I found two Montreal Mel-tones videos, both from 1998, one from a gig in Montreal and one from our California tour in March 1998.
I put the highlights up on YouTube for posterity's sake:

holy cow, that was 10 years ago that I saw you guys at that HB main street show.
I got off work early to jam down there.
it was a cool, windy day, and it pushed me over the edge with my cold and
I didnt feel like going to see you later that night with the Insect surfers.
But I was glad I got to see the Mel Tones at least one time.

Abele,
Kung Fu Saturdays is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FCU0cIOZ4M
BTD, I too am amazed it's been over ten years since the Mel-tones tour, and nearly fifteen years since I started the band. We got a really warm welcome in California, and trust me, what you thought was a cool windy day was gloriously warm to us coming from Montreal!

Cool! This is a goldmine! and a cool introduction to a lot of old Mel-tones material I haven't heard before. Man, I love "Surf Before Sunrise."
