Permalink Supertones- "Caught Inside" guitar effect

New Topic

Does anyone know what the guitar effect is that's used in The OC Supertones surf song "Caught Inside" from Supertones Strike Back album? Or how to get a close guitar effect to it? Thanks!

There is some irony that these guys would have a surf song. The real Supertones (not these guys) have such an excellent catalog of surf guitar material.

yea we had to sue them to get them to change their name to the O.C.supertones that was in 1998, we had been around as the supertones since 1988 those guys didn't show up untill 1997 and they had heard of us when they called them selve the supertones too: thanks, needless to say it has been an on going problem for us with all those people who think we're them and visa virsa: the're not bad for a born again ska band form the O.C. but.definetly not the trad surf band the supertones for NYC: i had heard that they had broken up a few years ago (the O.C. supertones) that is,and we are still going strong (the supertones) form NYC

What part of the song, in particular, are you referring to?

I assume the same guitar effect is used for the entire song, but in case it isn't, the beginning is probably the best example of the effect, since it is played without other instruments.

Sounds like a guitar with single coil pickups played through a slightly overdriven tube amp with reverb; probably no other effects than the reverb, unless the overdrive was the result of a pedal (I'm guessing not). I'm not real familiar with the band, so I don't know what kind of gear they use, but I get a similar sound with my MIJ Fender Jaguar and my RI Fender Deluxe Reverb amp, but it's a pretty generic "surfy" tone.

Hey, thanks alot for the input. I'll have to look into this and check it out. I've been looking all over for any tips about how to attain this sound and couldn't find anything. This is my favorite surf effect, so I really, really appreciate you taking the time to help me out! Thanks so much.
