How rare is this record?

Yeah, this one and the S/T (with the discoesque cover) go for over $50 on ebay these days).

I just missed one at my local record store for $20.

Bummer!

My list in order of choice:

Point Zero - The Atlantics
Revenge Of The Surf Guitar - Martin Cilia
Misirlou Tenth Anniversary Best - The Surf Coasters
Pulp Surfin' - Various
Locked and Loaded - The Penetrators
Live In Hell - Urban Surf Kings
Big Pounder - The Surfites
Open Bar Confessional - The Cocktail Preachers
Fathom This - The Fathoms
Bang It Again - Bonny & Buzz

Mel

Ventures - Live in Japan '65
Dick Dale - one of the all-60s, all-instro comps of semi-legitimacy
V/A - Diggin' Out
V/A - Surf Creature
Randy Holden - Early Works (has all the Fender IV recordings)
Jim Messina & The Jesters - s/t (though The Dragsters will certainly suffice)
Surf Coasters - Surfdelic
Terauchi Takeshi - Manatso No Umi Wo Buttobase or Seicho Terauchi Bushi
Satan's Pilgrims - Creature Feature
Pollo Del Mar - The Golden State

-Warren

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

If you could own 10 surf albums and no others, which ones would you definately have to have.

In no particular order...some new, some old, some studio, some live...

The Space Cossacks - Interstellar Stomp
Slacktone - Slacktone
The Halibuts – Live at Toes
Huntington Cads – Go Exotic
Laika & the Cosmonauts - Zero Gravity
The Lively Ones - Hang Five!!! The Best of the Lively Ones
The Ultras - Surf-Pop-Sludge
The Eliminators – Unleashed
The Goldentones – Atlantis
The Blue Hawaiians - Live at the Lava Lounge

You all have listed some pretty good groups here. Let me list what I feel are 10 very good groups that have not been mentioned yet.

  1. Aqualads - Hot Box
  2. Aqua Velvets - Any of their CD's. Their tune "Spanish Blue" is on the Cowabunga Box set.
  3. Bitch Boys - ...In Heat
  4. Bongo King - Operation Latin Surf (Great use of bongo rhythms with surf instrumental influences).
  5. Human Tornados - Self-Titled. Believe this is their only release and I don't know why. Great CD especially "I Surf in Black" and a cover of Link Wray's "Hotel Loneliness".
  6. King of Hawaii - Self-Titled.
  7. Los Meltones - Surfin' at Black Point
  8. Papaya Kings - Don't Fear the Reverb
  9. Shig & Buzz - Double Diamonds. Some great guitar work here.
  10. Splashback - Mrs. Moto

If there was only one surfalbum i could own i would choose my The Detonatorsalbum..it have everything i need=)

The reality is that we do not wash our own laundry - it just gets dirtier.

I know it must have been said 5,000 times since this forum began, but why hasn't a label cashed in on the demand for this album and just reprint it (without the car noises and hollers.)

So I went ahead and ordered Satan's Pilgrims, Plymouth rock from Amazon, I also had to order MOAM? 1000x while I was at it, Should be here today, I cant wait!

Hey. cool! Thanks for purchasing legally! Very Happy
Hope you like it!

You know, there is just something about owning the actual legal disc. Dont get me wrong I've downloaded my share of music, usually just the really odd hard to find stuff, but a pirated disc, doesnt have any sentimental value.

Smile It's true. I had a bunch of Albums in my brother's iPod before I had bought the actual disc. Even tho I listen to these albums on the iPod more than using the CD, I still like having it. Cool

The Deadbeats

for me, i would take anything by MSL... they don't get enough credit here.. just masters...

this video says it all for me..

When you can stretch that to 4+ minutes.. with soul and feeling... hell yeah!

I wanna play just like him when i grow up...

So I just got Satan's Pilgrims Plymouth Rock in the mail today!! I am totally stoked, and hooked! These guys rip! I cant beleive I have gone this long with out hearing this, I have truly been missing out! Thanks for all of the advice on which albums are necessary to own, this would definately rate high on my list. I think Ill be getting the Space Cossacs next.

Very Happy If you liked that one try to get "Creature Feature", or "Around the World with..." you can buy them on Amazon. The Space Cossacks are good too, I've heard a little from them but I like it. The Ghastly Ones are good too, and If you want anything from first wave Surf The Astronauts are cool or Jim Messina and his Jesters. If you want the Jesters you're gonna have to go here http://boppeslag.blogspot.com/2007/09/jim-messina-jesters-1964-dragsters-192k.html because you can't buy it.
