wow for 10 bucks, i think its worth a look. The Clash were an amazing band. I wonder if Charlie will Surf with this one.

how does it sound?

It sounds like every other surf tribute album- Some tracks are inspired, some tracks are boring. Some bands are much better at converting a one note vocal melody into an interesting guitar line than others. Varying recording quality, but in general all the tracks sound good.

"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

I agree with Ferenc, and would just like to add that if you go to about 1:30 in the clip below, that's what I'd like to do to at least half the comp.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Storm Surge of Reverb: Surf & Instro Radio

I really liked it at the time it came out,

maybe I will have to go back and listen again, and try to hate it now that
it seems to be the consensus on it.

It was supposed to be the surf cd that blew the whole surf scene wide open to the world.
Shocked Rolling Eyes Wink

I knew it wasn't that good.

Jeff, You need to put quotes around that: "the surf cd that blows the whole surf scene wide open" - Record company hyperbole.
When has a record company ever said, "Here's a bunch of songs originally done by a great band, but covered in a way that the average listener will find distasteful, and by the way, the bands were not compensated for their recording time or performances, and the record label exerted no quality control over the submissions, but we appreciate their enthusiasm and hope you do too."
(with apologies to Rick, not that I am specifically talking about this project, but about genre tributes in general)

IMO, the best tributes happen when the label asks a band to do a specific song that they think would suit the style of the band. Otherwise you get a lot of people jumping on the comp who may or may not actually be a fan of the original artist, and may be thinking of furthering their own careers with free publicity.
