Ahh, thanks danny Kiss Laughing I enjoyed everyone's set. My favorite part of the Tommorowmen was that cool intro by Steven Hawkin Smile but seriously it does sounds cool with all that sound effects in the background. Cool Pollo Del Mar kicked ass, and was fun. And MBP, what can I say other than you guys never dissapoint Razz . I felt bad for mel, his back was killing him. Apparantly he's an Animal in the sac Surprised nah I think he said he was moving boxes.

Yeah, yesterday was fun!! I had a good time during our set. I hope all eight-or-so people in attendance enjoyed it. Laughing

The Tomorrowmen really tore it up as usual. I love their originals, and they were playing a bunch of really cool covers too, including a few songs I didn't recognize so that was cool. They did a great job and actually drew a pretty large crowd to the stage. The sci-fi soundbites between songs were pretty hilarious. They just made the set that much more fun. Tony also professed beforehand that he was going to have to exploit John's cowbell, so it was pretty funny watching him have at that thing from time to time.

Pollo played a really good set with a lot of material I hadn't heard for a long time, or live at all. They played the WHOLE Wild West Medley--a ton of fun for about eight minutes--and Seven Sisters, Seven Seas, which was cool to hear in person for the first time. It was nice to hear these guys back together as a whole group for the first time in a while, just as it should be.

Meshugga Beach Party was a blast, again. Yeah, sorry to Mel about his back. The guy is very characteristically mobile up on stage, but this time you could tell he was pretty stiff. He also broke a string during (I think) the very first song. He kept playing through for a while though, and it sounded pretty funny. Sorry to have been a jerk during Mel's time of peril, but I was laughing pretty hard at the sound. He handled it in stride though, and afterwards the set was pretty seamless. I really really like the song Czech Mate, and I wish there was a recording of it to be had somewhere (have I missed one?).

I wasn't familiar with the last band. Lots of loud, overbearing guitar through too many effects. I got bored with it pretty fast. Confused The rest of the day was also marred by really annoying, self-important MC's and comedy routines that were waaay out of place for the family setting of the event, which was too bad. But other than that, it was a whole lot of fun and a real good time.

My dad took an obscene amount of photos, so I uploaded some of them...

here!

Thanks Dad for the awesome photos!

What in the heck is Mel playing now? Does everything have to have 3 pickups? Very Happy

yeah it was an cool day, i really liked the sound i was getting through Danny's showman, and that fuzzbrite was soundin gewwwwwwwwwd! haha The Tmen played a really good set like always, really enjoyed El Condor Pasa, that was a really good choice for a first song, it was loud as hell but good thing i had some earplugs it leveled the sound just right. the samples kicked ass, specially the "The Day The Earth Stood Still" sample there haha as the tmen were packing up me and my friend went to grab somethin to eat before Pollo Del Mar played, but unfurtonately there was tons of traffic on our way there, but as we arrived i heard Teke Teke Teke and ran there to try to listen to at least a portion of it. they're set was also great, and MBP what can i say, those guys cannot dissapoint! sucks about Mels Back, but hopefully he'll back to his old self soon. after that i just remember hearing tons of guitar noise haha cool day none the less.

Cool Yup, good times man.

Argh - as mentioned, I threw out my back on Friday night. That's what I get for doing work on Shabbos. Shtupping on Shabbos is a mitzvah, and no doubt how I would have preferred spending my time instead of building shelves in my attic.

So, due to the aforementioned back issues, I got to the gig late and missed the Deadbeats and the Tmen. The PDM set was great, I really liked hearing Teke Teke Teke and the medley at the end was great.

As for my guitar, it's a Mosrite VIII - basically a three pickup Ventures model. Yeah, I know I'm a goof for three pickups, but I like having a variety of tonal options. So, in a nutshell, when the Mosrite factory closed after Semie passed away, investors in the company liquidated the assets. A investor in Canada wound up with lots of parts in various states of assembly. I bought a body, partially completed neck and the rest and put the guitar together. The whole sage is here: http://www.mosriteforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=112&start=0

As an aside, Fritz the Cat came up before the show and asked if I ever break strings with my Mosrite as his frequently busts the hi E. No, I say, hasn't happened. Then, whammo, there goes the E in the middle of the first song. Happened again today in the middle of the second set at Forbidden Island. Fritz, what did you do? Smile

Smile He cursed u man. Have a buch of extra E's in your case for now on. The backs still hurting? Still havent convinced your wife huh j/k. Get well soon.

Err, no. I guess it never crossed my mind. Curse my social ineptitude! Mad

I think the secret to his success is having a good camera ... And a good eye, I guess. I'll pass the word about copies. You can have all the out-of-focus and personally unflattering photos too, if you want. Wink

Mel, Sorry I've been putting solder on the wrapped part of the string near the ball end and haven't had any problems. Of course I've now probably jinxed myself! Everyone put on a great set, and I was really impressed with those young whippersnappers the DeadBeats. My wife had a great time too. Our thanks to everyone for putting on a bitchin' show!

Smile Ben is your dad's camera a Canon? Last time he showed me the camera but I dnt remember what it is. The pics look good tho. Makes me wanna buy a camera and do the whole Photography thing again.

Laughing What you do to Mel? Its only funny to me cuz is ironic that he broke his Hi E string. Glad you enjoyed our set. Cool
