Permalink WTT -- Vintage Silvertone/Danelectro for a Strat?

New Topic

I sold my Jazzmaster earlier this year (to a very nice fellow SG101er) to finance another guitar purchase. I thought I could live without a "surf" guitar for a while, but I was wrong.

If anyone is interested, I've got a very cool, early sixties Silvertone 1448L Amp-in-Case model (made in the Danelectro factory in Neptune, NJ) that I'd like to trade for a comparable value Strat ($400 value or so). I'm also willing to sell the Silvertone if someone is interested in that route.

The guitar is in excellent shape for its age, is all original except for replaced control knobs (which are period correct), everything works perfectly and the original lipstick Dano pickup sounds fantastic. Neck is dead straight and action is low. I've also got the case (which is factory painted to match the guitar!), but somewhere in its long life, someone removed the amp.

Pics are available online at http://www.flickr.com/photos/23286162@N07/

So, if anyone's got a spare strat lying around and would like to add a bonified piece of guitar Americana to their collection or would like to recapture their youth by holding their first guitar in their hands again, please shoot me a line.

Thanks.
