Permalink High E falls out of tune easily

New Topic

Seems like when I play my jag the high e is always falling out of tune, the rest of the strings hold up very well, I can play for hours using the bar and nothing knocks them out of tune. Sometimes a few bends on my high e and it goes flat. Anyone know a remedy? Sad

Check your nut. Sometimes a string can get hung up in a nut groove that's too tight and cause tuning problems. I sometimes have to run a larger gauge string through the nut slot a few times (like a wound G for an E string) to open it up a bit.

There is Surf east of Sepulveda.

thanks fripp, ill give that a whirl next time I change strings. Any other opinions would be appreciated.

If you use "Chromes" flatwounds with a Jaguar style tremolo, the plain strings can begin to unwind. I have a lot of trouble with this. I use RotoSound Purples on another guitar, so, I use the extra "E" string that comes with that set with the "Chromes". Much better buld. ~ dave
