I would love to get my hands on tabs for the Pollo Del Mar-song "Dripping Springs TX", at least the opening riff.. Smile

Smile I would love to help you out Serpico, but I dont have any PDM. Ther cool tho, I've seen them twice. I like ther song "A Flash of Green" and "Teleport..." i forget the number at the end of that title Confused And they have a very cool version of Frank Zappa's "Peaches in Regalia". I think Wooza told me that song was hard, but i'll give it a Go... Razz

It's not hard to figure out by ear. The tip is to play the open D string in between the hammer-on double-stops. Takes some good dexterity to pull off though (no pun intended)

try playing the double stops straight along with the riff, once you find the notes (hint it's in Dminor so start with notes within that chord) then work on the syncopation. I'm sure you'll get it, be persistent.

Danny i dont know what a double stop is, listening to the riff it makes me believe it is sweeping.

i start play the open d-string and then i play 7th fret on Gstring and then 6th on Bstring and then 5th on the Estring..but i dont know if it is right..and i havent figured out how many notes there is..is it only 3 between each open D string note?

hmm..hammer on dubble stops..

A double stop is simply playing 2 notes on 2 adjacent strings at the same time, usually in harmony with each other. Think Taco Wagon. I suggest you play the double stops as a tool to help locate the actual notes. Once you do that then play triplets with the open D and the 2 notes in the double stop. Tryi it, you'll like it ;)

wow this is killing my hands..this is what i think how it goes:
open dstring, 7 th fret on G, 6th on B and then hammer on to the 10th fret the same string..is it wrong Danny?

I saw the thread, but thought it would be fun for you guys to try and work it out a little bit first. No, I don't believe in torture, but there is something to figuring it out for yourself, and once you do, you won't beieve how simple it is. Serpico asked for a hint, so here are the first 3 notes.

Hope that helps.
thanks for being a Pollo Del Mar fan, and if you have any more questions,, please ask!
thanks,

Another trick is to download some free audio software and slow down the song so you can hear the notes easier. Using ears over tabs is always better, especially if you're playing in a band.

OK another hint Smile Listen to the rhythm guitar and bass, find the chords (Dm,C,Bb,A). Hear how he's playing along with those chords? OK, did you notice the notes Ferenc tabbed out are D, F and A? Which are the notes in a Dm. Now we know that the D string is played open the whole time, so concentrate on the higher, hammered-on notes. Pick out the 3rd and 5th in the other chords and follow along. Watch for the switch to 1st and 3rd halfway through and before you know it you got it ;)

FWIW, I can't play it nearly as fast a Ferenc, it takes a lot of skill.

hey i think im getting the hang of this now..but i think its hard to keep up with the pickhand and keeping it muted and clean..any hints about that? upstroke, downstroke? or down down? i have always been terrible with the pickhand..

You're trying too hard. You should only pick the open D. The other notes are hammer-ons.

Pick the open D, hammer on at the 14th fret, then pick the 13th fret on the G string.
Practice that motion a hundred times in that position (before you attempt to learn the whole line) to gain some speed and dexterity.
