See, I have to say as much as I like them, and like the older stuff they put out (especially the live album from The Great American Music Hall). I will say, the last time I saw them play, a couple of years ago, they'd kind of strayed away from the old sound. I think part of it had to do with the revolving door of drummers they had for a while, and as I recall, I saw them just as a trio. Has anyone seen them recently? Any takes or different opinions? ~B~ |

i think the Red Elvises are super coolio! I like their song about bellydancing and the one about Istanbul... and I particullarly dig the electric bass baililika player's super cool axe: |

Pollo has played with them twice this year, both times the audience was packed, and dancing, and singing along. They are not for everybody... I would liken their audience to Jimmy Buffet's parrotheads- people who go to their show know what they are going to get- a good show and a good time. And when all the ladie sget on stage for "I Wanna See You Bellydance", you know that Igor and crew have succeeded. Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |

That would be me. RE was just a little too "novelty" for my taste and after Pollo played, I wanted to keep it pure! -outsides- |
