Really bad hair. Looks more like the late 1970's than the mid-80's. Unfortunately, I remember that. Paul —Paul |

Well, the '85 VID might be bad, but their first hit, WDR 1960, I think is the worst of them all. They were on American Bandstand, trying to do some kind of a badly choreographed two step shuffle, which they ended up looking gay (for the lack of a better word). I think the WDR 1960 appearance on D.Clark's American Bandstand tops the list. It looks too DAMN CORNY!! .......make the Mos' of it, |

Is it just me, or does Gerry's Strat sound horrible in the first vid? Also, the guitars don't even appear to be plugged in. Hahaha. |

Yeah, it's because he's guit-syncing and the recording is really a Jazzmaster |

When Zak posted this thread, it wasn't about which guitar sounds better, a Jazzmaster or a Strat...... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^B^U^M^P^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ —.......make the Mos' of it, |

It's the Invisible Guitar Leads (jointly developed by Klotz, DARPA and David Copperfield). By mid nineties they improved the sound on those, but the version for the hip-hop microphones still seems to have problems . |

i´m a huge ventures fan, and I saw a lot of horrible videos of them.........this is not that bad.....it`s interesting to see there mel taylor, gerry mc gee, bob spaulding an don wilson at the beach !! maybe the worst video of the ventures is one from the 90s with non-pickguard black aria guitars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFSI_zJNsGs but no, the worst is this, just see gerry`s playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_OxNuIJd1E&feature=related but I dont care, still love the ventures ! —El Papu & los Fantasticos Reverberantes |

Reminds me of an 80s Ventures CD I bought and threw away. Disco drums and the bane of the 80s, the Chorus Pedal. |

I wonder if this was before or after the 80's "reunion" of the Ventures where Nokie came back. I actually have a vague memory of the TV show this clip is from. It was a Dick Clark produced weekly music show that ran in the summer. That naked guy from Blue Lagoon hosted it. I think they must have borrowed the bass player from Missing Persons or something.
