Soooooooooooooooo,
Did I mention I love you guys?
It's all right; you're in good company here. There's the purists who certainly know their stuff well, the in-betweens and some of us just like to hang around surf musicians to feel a bit more important. I hope You'll find yourself a space and fit yourself nice and comfortably here. We certainly know you exist now

I'm catagorized in the same status as young Oestman here. You've taken the criticism well and haven't whined nor lowered yourself to "pushing back" whilst getting slammed. You'll learn alot here. Read daily as I do. Lose them shirts and for God's sake PLEEEEASE..install a Bigsby on that nice thinline green tele. (If you have already done so, please disregard this notice) Keep playing, keep posting and more importantly is to keep having fun. I'd say your "initiation is over" and you deserve a round of applause.

No! Don't hurt a perfectly nice tele by putting a bigsby on it. Some guitars were just meant to be sans trem system. The tele is one of the few in that minority.

guitars without tremolos aren't even guitars, except acoustics, but those are grandpa guitars and don't count.
actually a trem on an acoustic would be rad.
i'm so used to a trem that any electric i play sounds too plain without a tremolo. not that i use it and rely on it too heavily, but i use it to accentuate a lot of notes and chords, and am just used to it and can hear it in my head but not through the guitar...eh.

Thanks Seafoam-Johnny
I haven't been called "young" for a very very long time. You've made my day. By the way it's my birthday this month - I'm almost 42. Wouldn't believe it would you? Did I get off topic again? See what happens when you get old, one chain of thought leads to another, which reminds me....blah blah blah

If you like ducks or ping pong you'll love these ones!!!
Love, Jimmy
I watched them both and have a few comments:
(1) Where IS that, that you are playing? Is it Seaworld, Christmas Carols by the Water? Wharf 2B? Where???
(2) Stormdancer has a more traditional surf sound which I liked
(3) The Duck scared me but the ping pong was alright; who won?
(4) I wouldn't go on stage with my shirt unbuttoned as far as you for fear of losing my audience
(5) as others have mentioned previously you have a guitar sound which is closer to 'rock' than traditional surf - to me, as an Aussie, it sounds like "pub -rock". Many of the purists use a Fender Tank Reverb(correct me if I'm wrong, oh great purists!) which splashes the sound. I don't have one, so they can tell you.

Thank you
(1)Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in little Vallejo, California
(2) Thanks
(3) The duck scared us as well... it's name is "trouble". missed the Ping Pong game
(4) Luckly, I'm not Austailian... What is this term "fear"?
(5) My wife is Austailian, she doesn't have one either, I do (I have two kids, now it's broken). I played rock in a diffrent brain cloud ( Joe vs. the Volcano).

Excellent, excellent. I'm glad I asked! Sorry about the kids and tank story.
My formula is this: three kids + one guinea pig + two rabbits + fuel guzzling car +wife (this wasn't in any order) = mouths to feed.
Now divide my wallet by mouths to feed
= no Fender Tank for Tim

Hey everybody!
Thanks for the wonderful comments, you all are too kind!
I hope you all are having a great time at the convention, we wish we were there, but...
This Thursday, I'm playing my "Urban Slack" stuff at a wine bar in Benicia, CA called the First Street Cafe, it has a very chill atmosphere, it's a lot of fun.
And if you happen to like the surf videos....
the Deadlies be in Southern California over the weekend.
We're playing at Magic Mountain on Friday 8/8/08 3: PM and 4: PM and on through the evening,
and the Real Surf Shop in Oceanside in the afternoon on Saturday 8/9.
Finally, at the Purple Orchid Tiki Bar in El Segundo at 10:PM in the evening Saturday.
In NorCal we'll (the Deadlies) be at the W hotel Silicon Valley on Thursday 8/14. (there is usually free food)
We'd love to see any fellow surfinatics (or surfers)!!!
Love, Jimmy

The Deadlies-The Deadly(or potentially harmful)Surfanics

Hey Josh,
It's my fault, I came up with the long name the D(oph)S. and it's a lot of key strokes or letters when you're trying to tell people on the radio or wherever how to find you.
So.. we've been nic-named the Deadlies by the folks at Live Nation and it's taken off (I still like the first name better)
It's the same material, attitude and SHIRTS!!!
Love, Jimmy
P.S. we did have a couple completely different bands that have now gone dorment.

Due to the enactment of hate crime laws, I'll be able to do just that and not worry about a thing but I'd like to push the envelope. Could I borrow your pink squier strat for a week??
