Ok I don't knwo what Spiderman you guys were talkin about, But I thought you meant the 60's grainy cartoons, with the Jazzy soundtrack. not the 90's stuff.
now I feel really old.

One of the earliest songs my brother (a drummer) and I did surf version of was the theme to Little House On The Prairie.

Unfortunately, we don't remember exactly how we did it, but we remember that it was good.

We'll have to practice on that one again.

I was with you Jeff. So I guess we are old(er). I still haven't seen those new Spiderman movies or any of the Batman movies. I'm not one of those purists or anything, but the Spiderman cartoon and the Adam West Batman were on TV for free when I was a kid and had this thing called "free time".

The Bitch Boys do a great surfed up version of The Rolling Stones "Paint It Black."

The Bitch Boys can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. I dig
their version of "Paint It Balck". The Mermen and Shitones have
been known to do killer versions of "Paint It Black" as well. It's
a cool song for surf.

I love the Bitch Boys' surf-ification of "The Phantom of the Opera." I agree that they can't do wrong. They just make any song they touch, whether originally a surf instro or not, way "surfier" than it ever was before.

I emailed Robi of The Bitch Boys to tell him about Surf Guitar 101. He said several band members are leaving after their next gig. He said he would check out this site.

I'm new to this but two that I'm playing with are My Sharona and Papa's Got a Brand New Bag...

Dammit, I love the Bitch Boys. I was hoping I'd get to see them live one day. Crying

Science friction burns my fingers.

Wow, I hope the BBs keep things going, they really are the tits.

I figure I'd also throw it out there that the Lava Rats do a pretty damn popular version of Paint it Black as well (with a special little surprise). Those of you who've seen us know what that's all about Wink

A few we play in our band "3rd Wave"

Spanish Harlem - this always seems to get a lot of positive response from the audience.

Telstar - with guitar playing the lead

A Whiter Shade of Pale

The Shadows did great versions of the last two songs.

And I Love Her by the Beatles

Yikes, hope they can manage to continue, they're cool.

And for a thread related plug:
We'll be performing our surf versions of Sabre Dance and Are You Lonesome Tonight? this Saturday night in Arlington, VA

Bug music for bug people is here!
Killers from Space

Hmm, how could we all have forgotten the great Miserlou? I've heard a number of stories as to what the original version was, but I guess the relative consensus is that it was a Greek folk song?

ha, good point ... then let's also include dark eyes aka black eyes, hava nagila, and the entire meshugga beach party album!
