Oh Gawd! Please Billy, wish it into the cornfield, pullllleeeze!

Sound of the Surf, the movie
Facebook SOTS

Tough room! The shirts blow, yes, and should be burned immediately.

But otherwise, if I was by chance at Seaworld (or wherever this was shot) and happened upon this trio playing, I would think it was all awfully cool and would welcome the chance to sit down and listen. It is a matter of frame of reference. At a club, with perhaps other surf acts on the bill, I would expect more. And by that I guess I mean at least seeing the proper gear in use; you just can't get a right sound with that stuff. In the meantime, more reverb, please!

By the way Joel and others in So. Cal. these guys from Nor. Cal. are comin down in Aug. and playing at Magic Mountian, and they asked me for help getting them a gig or 2.
so they will be playing at the Purple orchid on Sat. Aug 9th, and maybe the Real Surf surf shop in Oceanside that day. (Please confirm that Jimmy)
so maybe yo could come to the show, and buy them a beer for all the mean
things you said about them,
Wink

Jeff(bigtikidude)

They are welcome to come to South Dakota and I will supply FREE homebrew under one condition...Leave them thar funny shirts in California. They could be offensive to both Cowboys AND Indians alike (of which I'm neither) Cheers

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions!

Cool. Finally a surf band tryin' somethin' different. It gets pretty boring hearing the same ole' surf tunes venue after venue.
Not to mention, who cares what there wearin'.
I'll play naked upside down if the price is right........;D
Did you get a visual?

You mean like Wipeout and Rumble?

I don't know Zak. I hear different stuff goin' on there. I hear blues and Penatonic scales goin' on thru both tunes, especially "Rumble". Not bad for a three piece band. No other guitar or keyboard to hide behind.
It ain't the norm. You don't have to hide behind a reverb tank all the time to play surf.
Let's see one of your videos.
I'd be glad to critique it.

Fascinating that the Deadlies "Splitsville" is a dead ringer for the theme song from the Banana Spilts kids show that ran from 1968 through 1971...:-)

The original song was called " The Tra-La-La Song" written by Nelson B. Winkless, Jr.

But boy, did this bring back memories...:-)

sure ya don't, but it's much MUCH better if ya do. Laughing

besides, last time i checked, Zak uses fuzz as well. that is most certainly coming out from behind the reverb tank.
