Okay, here is the CURRENT way to submit and mp3 for the compilation. Log into the site, then go to the Downloads area. Click the Add Download link and fill out the form. Make sure the Category drop down box says "2006 MP3 Comp".

Brian,
Are there any rules about who is eligable, or what kind of material can be submitted? When is the deadline?

This is great! I'm going to be recording as soon as possible; hopefully within the next month or so. I'll definitely try to submit something!

Our song will be appearing on an official release in several months, maybe more. Does that count?

OK, at long last, I need something to get my creative juices flowing again. I'm gonna start working on something. AS GOD IS MY WITNESS, I'LL NEVER WORK IN A BANK AGAIN!

That's a really cool idea, I missed last year's but I'm listening to it right now. Too bad I'm not in a band...

Not everyone was in a band last time, Wraydar. Also consider hooking up with another member and doing some remote collaboration.

And Jake, I'm gonna have to say "no" cause its already destined for something official. Sorry. Sad

That is cool Brian. We'll use a cover instead since all of our mastered and studio recorded originals are going on our album.

go do something wraydar. I did last years on my own, many people did, actually. basically, if you have two cassate players and a $10 mic, you can make something!~

I'm torn between doin' one of my own songs in demo-stage (klezmresque) and a cover of the late 70's arrangement of a famous dutch childrens song by a local hippie folkband.

hmmm.

Great. I'll stick a few mics up at the next couple of rehearsals and try to create a new piece.

There is Surf east of Sepulveda.

great news! this sounds like fun!

Cool! Maybe I can find a way to participate then. I'm thinking of doing something solo all on guitar (including bass and percussion). Should be fun.

i also did the "one-man-band" on my submission last year...

An important question has come up. What about cover songs? This comp is done strictly for fun, no money involved, but it may get all over the internet. Will we (i.e. I) get into trouble because surferDoodz74 submitted a cover of Squad Car? Shocked

in reference to this thread : http://www.surfguitar101.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=732

we should all submit our own versions of the tune "Siboney"...

even Ivan should do one Wink

I can see it now:

Surf Guitar 101: The 2006 Siboney Compilation.

I have some work to do!

Could be messy!!!!!!
