Well, I thought their arrangement of "Moonlight Shadows" was actually pretty cool, but the silly ass grins coming from Hank as if he were to say "Now watch me now, watch me!" .......make the Mos' of it, |

estreet, I have a quick, funny story for you. The Huntington Cads were playing a club in Santa Monica, mid-90's i think, doing our Shadows style stuff. After our set the doorman comes up to Chris (Barfield) and says he had two young women from England at the door who proclaimed something like "We didn't come clear from England to pay to see some Shadows rip-off! Anyway, the older I get the more I appreciate even the Shads goofier stuff. even some of the vocals. I admit to liking their "Nights in White Satin" cover... —Jeff Utterback |

If they were under 40 or so I'm suprised they knew who they were ..lol. A bit of Shadows searching on youtube has led me to an unfortunate discovery. We thought we were being so original and witty when we covered Oxygene IV but guess who got there about 15 years earlier.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efdu6Iq9eQw I think the Shadows at their best are pretty damn cool, and the way I play guitar definitely owes a bit to Hank Marvin. However their dancing is indefensible. |

Whatever you say about The Shadows, a thousand cricket bat manafactuers have_ The Shadows _to thank for boosting their sales to all those guitar-miming school boys around the world. I saw the last concert DVD recently with my dad. I borrowed it for a bit of fun - though a bit clinical at times, I was reminded of overall how good they were. Hank is a 'melody' guitarist, not a shredder, though he had his moments every now and then. —Tim O |
