Okay, my background in Surf Music is EXTREMELY shallow. You know, Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Dick Dale, Ventures (I know, I know)... Stuff like that the general public would probably recognize the name of, if not know a few songs if you named them. "you know, they did the Hawaii 5-0 theme? Oh yeah, I know those guys!" type stuff. Is the Lost Legends of Surf Guitar series any good? Especially interested in instrumental stuff... Thanks in advance.

Volume 3 is a little on the weak side, but still worth getting. The other three are excellent. None are start-to-finish perfect, but there really isn't too much filler. Also, each volume has really informative liner notes.

Definitely worth picking up. I would agree that Vol 3 is the weakest,
but it's still very good. 1,2 & 4 are stellar!

I wonder how true it is when overstock.com says "2 left in stock"

I don't know, but like a lot of what Sundazed puts out it's no problem to track them down. I haven't had to order any of them online--Tower and Virgin stock them, and I even bought volume 4 at a local punk record store.

It's all instrumental (and a great series).

I have volume 1 and just got volume 2. I ditto what everyone else has said. Great liner notes and packaging too.

Lately I 've been really enjoying the David Marks and the Marksmen numbers, especially "Travelin".
Oh yeah! When you hear "The Sheriff of Noddingham" you think Dick Dale, but Travelin' really shows off their own style. Great track.
