F#m for a long time than C# .... do that twice, than the bridge is Bm - A - G - F# twice and then E (low tremnote) D (high tremnote) C# —Rules to live by #314: |

Well it didn't take long to get your answer. Maybe Mr. Ferenc can help also. I see he knows the song. Joel |

Ill be damned, I took it from Slacktone (F#) and never gave it much more thought... —Rules to live by #314: |

That's funny. Some people have even taken to harassing me because they insist it has to be in F# - Vindicated! —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

I have always played the first chord of the bridge as Dmaj not Bmin
Thanks for remembering that!
I prefer to play it in F# because when you get to low E tremelo, you don't have to fret it and can't point at the crowd. (See above video). Other than that it doesn't make a lick of difference. —Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |

Why, what idiotic proclamation have I made in the past? Actually there is one very important thing about the different keys, and that is to agree on one or the other BEFORE you start playing the song! —Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |

I seem to recall both you and Mel mocking me for playing it in G. All in good fun of course. —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

Real men, like the Deadbeats, play it in G. |

The Astronauts version I have is clearly in F#. Where did you guys find a version in G? Really, who cares, it's no big deal, why is it even an issue? —Buy Speed of Dark @ Bandcamp |

F# or A?? do you mean F# or G ? —Jeff(bigtikidude) |

I disagree about the key not making a lot of difference. Gm simply sounds, well different. and fwiw, Gm is pop key, F#m is a surf key! —Rules to live by #314: |

Gm - D (x2) Cm - Bb - G# - G (x2) Then F - Eb - D (double pick Low-E string - 1st fret, then up to 11th fret, then bounce it for one note to the 10th fret) Repeat. |
