Having been fortunate enough to see the Penetrators live a couple of dozen during the Rip Thrillby era (1994-2003), the Penetrators new DVD, Declassified, is a great document, a priceless memento for me. If you never saw em, its a valuable introduction to an impressive body of work. Of twenty tracks, one is the video of Redlined, the others are live footage. But its interesting live footage, with multiple camera angles and tasteful video effects. Plus you get to see a new venue (some are dives, some are not) and a new band uniform in almost every track!
While both the Penetrators and Satans Pilgrims DVDs have fabulous songwriting and playing, I'd have to say that the Penetrators DVD has better audio and more varied video than the also-indispensible SPs Live at Doug Fir.
The liner notes and opening narration(!) by Gregory Nicoll are both cool. Special bonus: a Thrillby-drawn flash-animated cartoon about two daredevil motorcycle ramp-jumpers.
Disclaimer: yes, I was proud n happy to see my moniker in the end-credit thank-yous.

I'm getting mine straight from the source next weekend (May 31) at THE CLARKSTON SURF FEST! I'm really excited to sit and enjoy every minute of it. Thank for raising the buzz Moon Dawg!

Just finished watching the DVD. WELL DONE!!! Although the video and audio all come from different sources, the whole thing is put together very well. Many great memories. The Penetrators are a class act, what else can you say. Great vision for theatrics, backed up by great songs and sounds and luckily they had a video camera rolling. This is a must have DVD.

Thanks for the kind words.
We were especially fortunate to have someone filming the Paradise Lounge Gig in SF w/ Pollo, Aqualads (what happened to those crazy cats) and others. That was a very fun show. I wish I had a copy of all the bands that played that night.
Ferenc, did anyone video the KFJC show from that weekend? We sure would like to have a copy of that one.
Has anyone ever started a thread about personal video of bands they may have in their personal collection (Mainly second and third wave bands)? My favorite one we had, and now have misplaced, is of Thee Phantom 5ive from Nashville playing an after gig party at our house in Tuscaloosa. I think the show ended around 3 am, and the party around 6 or 7. Talk about a good time, whew, those guys were nuts!

Just trying to get my post count up - lol! Speaking of which, how does the star system work. I notice I have one star, but it's yellow, while others have 6 stars, but theirs are clear. No big deal - just curious....
Sorry about all of the posts - just trying to get the word out on the sale and raise some cash to pay for the upcoming Continental magazine. The number of ads and songs on the CD is way down - I always like to have 20+ songs on the CD and right now there's only about 12. It's bad news for me, but the good news for the customer is that it'll probably still have 20+ songs, but extra songs will be by Double Crown bands, hopefully a few unreleased or live songs if I can manage it.
