I'm currently eyeballing a Dearmond/Guild T-400 in orange. These have been discontinued but I've played a few "Dearmond by Guild" guitars and love the way they sound, especially the 2000 and 2k pickups. I've also watched a few Electromatics (the downmarket Gretch's) go on eBay for a little more than what those T-400's go for. Does anybody out there have any other suggestions?

A lotta guys like the new Epiphones for serious "bang for the buck".
The old ones are GREAT guitars, but will cost you a fortune.

I'm quite pleased with my Epiphone ES-295, especially considered the price tag (â¬739). I've heard rumours that it's going to be discontiued due to high production costs though.

Click the pic for a larger version. Looks less yellow and more gold in reality.
Musician's Friend product description:
The Epiphone ES-295 Electric Guitar with Bigsby Tremolo is the ultimate rockabilly box. It's based on the famous Gibson ES-295 introduced in 1952 and played by the legendary Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley's guitarist. Features a pair of cream P-90s, a Bigsby tailpiece, 24-3/4" scale, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, laminated maple body and top. As a finishing touch, it's adorned with the original flower design on the pickguard.

This is the guitar I was looking at, but I let it go at this price.

I REALLY want a Gretsch style hollowbody with a bigsby (and not a humbuckered Epi 335) but it doesn't look possible for much less than $600.

The Ibanez Artcore series is good for the the bang-for-the-buck factor. I bought my Ibanez Artcore AG75TBS three years ago, and have not regretted it. I've since added an Ibanez JTK2 Jet King to my collection, and am planning to add an Ibanez Artcore AFS75T (in Ocean Blue) to the collection, in the near to coming future.
Haven't had much experience with Epiphone hollow bodies, save for test driving an Emporer about 15 years ago. My only real experience with Epiphone is with their acoustics. I've owned an Epiphone PR100 in the past ('92 - '98...it got stolen), and currently own another Epiphone PR100, as well as an Epiphone PR350-12E (that replaces a Kamen-Montana 12 that got stolen with the Epiphone).

I have the the semi-hollow version of this...

not bad for $450.
It also comes in natural/chrome hardware for $50 less...

Mine is the thinner IJ model which has a center block (out of stock as I'm typing this.) It is one of the nicest playing guitars I own and it only cost me $200. I didnt like the stock pickups much so I swapped them for GFS Liverpools which sound very Filtertron-ish.

There's the DiPinto Bacchus but It might not fit the budget. Still it can be had for around $750 street price.

You could also go with the DiPinto Belvedere for about $150 less.

There's also the Michael Kelly Vibe for around $450 It also comes in black if the Silver's too much for you.
