Did you notice it's "reliced" and then reduced in price because it has scratches... See it's an intentionally blemished guitar that's on sale because an unqualified non-professional further blemished it! |

think this thing is funny now, imagine explaining it to your grandkids when its time to pass it on to them. Talk about false advertising. It reminds me, what is that 'distressed' signature strat, the one with the green taped initials on it that goes for 10,000 clams? |

Musician's Friend sells blem stuff for other reasons besides scratches and dents. Why was it returned? Their policy is just to resell it and let the buyer deal with FMIC warranty. (Sometimes it is worth it, I suppose.) I returned a guitar to MF a few years ago, and lo and behold one just like it showed up on the blem list right away; I was pretty certain it was mine because the item was a closeout guitar that took about 4 months to arrive and was not for sale on the site. Mine had a bad bridge pickup. — |

Yes it's true and it's probably the reason this one is up for sale. However the copy clearly states in red letters the reason for the discount is "minor scratches". And that's what makes if funny... See the person who initially bought it probably wanted MAJOR scratches... Ever notice relic guitars always have dings and scratches in convenient places? There's never a major divot in the back of the neck or on the 15th fret to annoy a blues noodler... |

So, the reason it's a failure is because it's a 'relic' instrument that's not? is that right? A 'relic' to me is something like this Jeff Beck Esquire relic job... Apart from that, it seems about double its actual worth. |

If I got the money to spring for a 60 year old instrument, it damn well better be well cared for and in good condition, unless it was played by Carl Perkins or Duane Eddy himself. What the hell is wrong with a new looking instrument? They're pretty, like a new car. Would you buy a new car, and then relic it? |

Personally, I don't support the buying of a relic guitar for the sake of looking cool. However, people do look much cooler with vintage instruments. This is pretty much a fact. It is what the majority of bands I enjoy play. Jake logic, albeit broken, says that therefore to be cool I must own a vintage instrument. And Relics do look like vintage instruments. Granted the NOS and Closet Classic lines do as well but they are in better condition. I do see the point in buying a relic to stand in for your very expensive pre-'69 Strat, Tele, or Jazzmaster. The thought of losing one of those guitars is really hard. Vintage guitars feel and sound better than their modern counterparts and buying a relic will recreate a similar feel yet provide insurance. |
