Probably like many people here I was introduced to surf through Dick Dale. I've been listening to him since my first days of surf fandom and have wanted Surfer's Choice since the beginning. I'll admit, I didn't really exert myself in attempt to find it, but the desire has always been there. So finally, a classic of classics within reach! Thanks for the heads up Bigtikidude!

Great news! I wonder what happened with the release of the Ghouls' album though.

It's indeed great news that Surfer's Choice is finally coming out on CD, especially on Sundazed! However, I think almost all of the tracks have already been released on various (official) DD best-of CDs (if you include the bootleg Surf label stuff, there's even more). I was able to compile the following Surfer's Choice tracks from those official CDs:
Surf Beat
Take It Off
Misirlou Twist
Peppermint Man
Surfing Drums
Shake 'n' Stomp
Death Of A Gremmie
Let's Go Trippin'
So, that leaves only four vocals as previously unreleased on CD: Sloop John B, Night Owl, Fanny Mae, Lovey Dovey - not his prime stuff! Still, I'll be buying the CD as soon as it's out! After all this is probably one of , if not thee, ultimate first-wave surf music albums! Let's hope for some cool extras, and great liners.
I hope this also signals the future releases of his other sixties albums on CD.

Not sure I'll buy the Surfer's Choice CD since I already have the vinyl album. I guess the bonus tracks will decide. Yeah, let's hope for interesting extras like alternate takes or even unreleased titles!

I had heard someone mention that the Ghouls cd might not come out now because of Legal reasons, but this was from a surf fan, not a record company person, so i don't know how true it is.

I just ordered the recently released Hot Doggers' "Surfin' U.S.A." reissue out on Sundazed. Studio group led by Bruce Johnston and Terry Melcher. Instros and vocals. And speaking about Dick Dale stuff on CD, "Secret Surfin' Spot" and the great "Surfin' and A-Swingin" are both included on the new "Summer Beach Party" compilation out on Varese Sarabande. Also has the Pyramids and the Astronauts as well as a bunch of great vocal groups and artists.

My friend's dad just gave me this album; I like it quite a bit!

I have the Beach Party CD. I'm 50/50 on it. I do like some of the vocals on it.

Sundazed
Six bonus tracks feature all the appropriate non LP Deltone single sides, including Dale's seminal pre-album version of "Miserlou".
Here's some more info on the upcoming Dick Dale reissues on Sundazed. The part below sounds especially interesting:
Sundazed
Upon completing the Capitol album reissues, Sundazed will issue a dedicated rarities set, which will collect various unissued and hard-to-find Dale tracks.
Also the soon to be released Davie Allan CD sounds like a must have with several unissued cuts.

Also, I thought the upcoming Link Wray CD was just another demo discovery but it's actually a supposed 1958 album that was cancelled because of the "new threat to the morals of American youth"
