The Secret Samurai will be having a local CD Release Party on Sat. May 3rd at the Tiki House in San Diego. We'll be throwing Bill Zuck, our new drummer, into the fire. Joining us will be the most excellent Superwave, led by fellow sg101er, Ben! The music will start around 10:00ish and will last most of the night. We'd love to see and hang out with some fellow sg101ers there....

Thanks Danny.
I'm a sucker for foreign horror films. The poster is taken from a 1960s Italian horror film called La Machera Del Demonio (Black Sunday). The woman in the poster is Barbara Steele.

Also to mention: Black Sunday was directed by Italian horror helmsman Mario Bava, who was noted for his atmospheric style on minimal budgets. Also check out Black Sabbath (not the band, the movie) and Planet of the Vampires-which no doubt influenced Ridley Scott for the gothic atmosphere of Alien.
Cool poster Ryan. If anyone owns the rights to the pic, it would be that lil old movie company called Warner Bros-who owns the rights now to everything AIP.
edited to add_ Freddie, I'm lovin Twang Shabang

I guess I can give a little review from my POV.
Superwave opened strongly with their trumpet player and Steve and Rick from the Deoras. Excellent versions of Surf Party, The Godfather, and Channel 9! They were in top form.
The place was pretty much packed all night. I saw Clint and Sue Beachwood and Tracy, guitar player of the Crabs and surf drummer. Other than that, just a bunch of people off the street.
This was our second gig with our new drummer, Bill, and I think it went off without a hitch. We played all of "Gun-Sho-Gun" plus our new song, "Turkish Delight" that will be on Rickshaw's Earth Surfing Comp.. We also played about ten covers...my favorites being the Pilgrim's "Badge of Honor" and the Cads' "Lover's Lane."
On a negative note, I shat the bed on "Bombora" and although the crowd didn't really notice, Ru did and if you were there BTD, I'm sure you would've cringed.
But on the whole, a great show. Ru's Showman was in top form...and Ru was too...drippin' it up...Bill's drumming was top notch...great fills and tight beats...I think I hit every note except for that one song...some dancers...made some new fans...sold a few cds...if this is just a taste of things to come....it's gonna be a great summer!!

Yes, it was a really fun show indeed. I can't remember having more fun at the Tiki House. Had some old friends drop by and the place was jam packed. There was some great energy in the air. It was great seeing Clint and his wife and I was interviewed by a cat that is working on a instro documentary.
I love playing with Superwave. They are stellar gents and I can listen to their versions of The Godfather, Moment of Truth, and Johnny Guitar for days.
I wish I would have had some pics taken to post here, but I couldn't find somebody to shoot them. Piss poor planning
