THE SEARCHERS, a personal favorite band of mine dating back to the
British Invasion of the 1960's, are still touring today. If you
have not seen them live, THIS IS YOUR MOMENT.

Their website, by the way, is http://www.the-searchers.co.uk/.

You will find me at the following shows, tonight and tomorrow, diggin' the fab sounds of THE SEARCHERS

May 1st, THE CUTTING ROOM, http://thecuttingroomnyc.com/
May 2nd, THE WOLF DEN at MOHEGAN SUN,
http://www.mohegansun.com/entertainment/schedule_of_events.jsp?vid=CGDUAN003

I made a committment to Blue StingRaye to experience THE SEARCHERS
with me at Mohegan Sun, otherwise you would have found me at THE
CAPITOL ONE BANK THEATER (forfmerly known as WESTBURY MUSIC FAIR)
for a show called, 'THE BRITISH INVASION', starring PETER NOONE of
HERMAN'S HERMITS, TERRY SYLVESTER from THE HOLLIES, PETER & GORDON,
CHAD & JEREMY and good friend BILLY J. KRAMER!! How is that for a
line-up?

The following night PETER NOONE is performing again, but with GARY
PUCKETT and GARY LEWIS & THE PLAYBOYS (I have my SURF-ROCK SHINDIG
that same night, arrrrgghhhhhh!!).

Nonetheless, I AM PSYCHED!!

Feelin' those NEEDLES & PINZA!!!!!!!!!!!!

my friends and fans of THE SEARCHERS -- last night's show at THE CUTTING ROOM by THE SEARCHERS has left me numb, weary, and fresh out of tears

such wonderful guys, 2 of them in their 60's, no less, playing their hearts out for everyone

they give so much of themselves too, I might add, involving the audience in their show and sticking around for photos and autographs and they don't leave until everyone has had their "moment" (Dick Dale is the same way)

check their website and see how much they tour, practically non-stop.....just incredible

http://www.the-searchers.co.uk/dates.htm

I had the joy and privilege of seeing them in Dartford outside of London in 2005, along with Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Swingin' Blue Jeans and the Merseybeats -- and did a great interview with Frank Allen of the SEARCHERS and turned it into a 2-part TWANG SHEBANG. I used their music and some surf music that harkened back to the merseybeat and early 60's, a show I am really proud of (did a similar one with PETE BEST no less).

the very next night I was with PROCOL HARUM in London (old friends going back to the early 1970's)

that was such a great journey over the pond, as they say

here are some shots from that day in Dartford, and then London

the second night of my 2-night SEARCHERS shows at MOHEGAN SUN CASINO in Connecticut was yet another great evening

I brought along Blue StingRaye for this, and I hope she posts something here

We had a bloody blast!!

p.s. the fellow who took that picture of me with the lads the night before at THE CUTTING ROOM was at the show, brought a copy of it, and I got it signed (yeah, what the Hell!)

Oh my gawd! What an amazing freakin' nite. I am so grateful Unsteady asked me to attend this show with him.

It was so wonderful to see The Searchers playing less that 3-4 feet away from us and through his UNF's eyes. Live music is always a wonderful experience, but I enjoy it so much when I can see them play. That 12 string Rickenbacker blew me away with it's full sound, adding such depth to an already phenomenal band. They even autographed a CD for my Mom. how sweet was that?

Some of the musical highlights:
Don't Throw Your Love Away
Love Potion #9
Needles & Pins(ah)
Beach Baby
Bumble Bee
a beautiful medley of all their tunes to close the nite

PLUS TWO ENCORES

Ahhh, still hearing "Don't Throw Your Love Away" floating though my head. Much more soothing than all those crazy voices....

I LOVE UNSTEADY FREDDIE and THE SEARCHERS!!!

Aloha,
Blue StingRaye

now U done it!

U made this middle-aged man cry all over again

yeah THE SEARCHERS are just amazing

I think the tears are the realization, for me, how long ago (44 years!) since NEEDLES and PINS first hit the airwaves, caught my attention along with all that other amazing BRITISH INVASION music, and locked on tight FOREVER, such a wonderful, "innocent" time, if you will -- and then the 'dark times' in my life for a good 20 years (man am I grateful for another day!) -- and then climbing out of the ashes to have the life I have today -- and lo and behold -- on the other side, waiting for me, THE SEARCHERS are still with us!!

you won't find a more giving, loving bunch of lads....

thx for being at my side BLUE STINGRAYE

Unsteady Freddie

p.s. and I luv U 2....not only did you witness the show thru my 'unsteady' eyes, but I believe you felt it thru my 'unsteady' heart..... Very Happy
