It's almost time for GuiTaR-FeST IV. Sat May 17 at the Seahorse Tavern (Halifax). If you've gone before you know what to expect, if not...oh Boy...you're in for a treat! Halifax's (and beyond's) hottest guitar slingers/bands pay tribute to their fave players. Here's what's in store for this year's Shin-Dig:
the Divorcees: tribute to Gram Parsons/ Clarence White
Urban Surf Kings: tribute to Spaghetti Western
Brad Conrad: tribute to Johnny Guitar Watson
the Fabulous Venturamas: tribute to the Ventures (featuring members of King Konqueror, the Mellotones & USK)
plus very special guest, James Hill: one of the BEST uke players in the WORLD!!!!
..and the All Star Surf & Roll Band
There will be cool tunes between the sets, as usual, from DJ Mumps
Who knows who else will show up...and there are PRIZES Galore!!!
The show starts early: 9:00pm. Yep, 9:00pm.
Get your Dancin' Shoes On!!!

9 pm is early?
quote]
9:00pm is unheard of out here. Most openers don't go on until 11:00pm with the headliner hitting the stage after midnight. There used to be a club here in Halifax where we wouldn't go on until 1:00am for a 90 minute set. That was tough, but they paid really well ($1200)
What time do the West Coast shows go?

Rev,
depends on where the show is.
usually 9 pm ish.
the Purple Orchid shows are 10 pm to 1 am ish.
Saw a metal show at the El Rey theater in LA last fri, it went 8pm ish to midnight.
the only reason I said that was, IM so used to seeing shows at the surf museum, from 1 pm to 4 pm, that anything past 8pm is late for me.
The Baja Cantina shows were every Wed. from 7 pm to 10 pm, nice on a weeknight to not be out all night.
but those are not happening anymore.

That's weird ... I don't remember anything at all from 8 to about 10:45 - and especially nothing from about 9:45-10:45.
