No, this is not another one of those: OMG, Another POLL??!?!?!?
No, I was just curious in the SG 101 Family; the majority of us have at least
one guitar. Lots of us have (an xtra for a backup on stage in case U no watt )
But I was wandering just how many of us have: MORE THAN 3.....
Whether it be: Just because YOU WANT 3! LOL! Or whether you are a collector,
or you have 3 guitars from the era that you grew up in, etc........
....So.....HOW MANY OF US HAVE 3 OR MORE GUITARS in their ROUNDUP for
whatever reason?? But, HERE'S the CATCH!
U gotta EXPLAIN WHY you have MORE THAN 3!!!
Hey, I didn't say this was going to be easy LOL!
p.s. I didn't get my name for no reason at all.....
.......I had to earn it!!

well I am not in a band, so they are not back ups.
and they are not all guitars.
but I have a
mid eighties Kramer bass, similar to a p bass.
mid eighties Kramer Strat copy.
a late 60s Yamaha Clasical guitar,
and a late 1800s or very ealry 1900's
Washburn banjo,Mandolin,
used in Vaudville by the guy that sold it to my grandfather.

14 guitars, 6 basses, 12 amps, mostly Fender but there are a few oddities to keep things interesting. I've actually sold a few in the past couple of months to get the inventory down to a more reasonable level. And yes, they all get played from time to time although I do have a couple of special favorites that get the lion's share of use.
Why so many? I don't have a clue. Maybe because they are less expensive and aggravating than women and almost as fun to play with? Plus the old ones have turned out to be excellent investments. The guitars, not the women.

Five, for five different sounds and uses.
Now that wasn't to hard.
No backups though. I don't need no stinking backup..

Over 10 guitars, and just about as many amps. Some vintage,
some not. I bought them for different tones and applications,
plus I'm a collector of things that I'm into. I haven't really
bought anything as an investment, but some of these things
have really appreciated in value. I don't really plan on buying
additional gear, but if something reaches out and grabs me,
who knows? Do I NEED all this stuff? Hell no! But I enjoy the
heck out of it, and unless I'm forced to, I can't imagine getting
rid of most of this great gear.

Ha, what a question Dennis, I'd be betting just about everybody here has 3 or more guitars...
For me, alas only 5, Tele, Strat1, Strat 2, Jazzmaster, Ibenez Acoustic Bass, and looking, all the time looking.
I almost forgot my acoustics, ha, 1 Maton M225 Dreadnaught wired and fired, 1 really old beat up to the shit Yamaha classical that would be nigh on 30 years old or more, I don't know, can't really remember when it was bought, sometime in the mid to late '70's.

Technically, four, that are actually mine:
- Squier Bullet Strat
- A classical, with "Gitarras de Artesania / Pablo de Cortes" on the label, but the model number isn't written in, or else has faded. I don't know much about it, but it was bought second-hand, as a birthday present from my wife. I like to do half-assed fingerstyle Celtic tunes on it.
- '70s vintage "El Degas" copy of an SG - it's not bad, once I set up the truss rod and bridge. I got it in a trade for something back in the early '80s, but I never played it much until recently because I never had an amp. It's on semi-permanent loan to my son at the moment.
- Yamaha FG-160 dreadnought
My wife has a Fender F-15 acoustic, that she hardly ever touches.
There's also a Korean-made "Tradition" brand F4-style mandolin around, but I haven't picked that up for a while. It and the FG-160 were great when I was going through my Bluegrass/Old-Timey phase.
Update - With the income tax refund looking pretty good, now my wife says I should go ahead and upgrade from the pink Bullet to that all-white MIM Fender Standard Strat with the maple fretboard that I mentioned seeing. For one thing, that was the colour scheme I really wanted in the first place. Decisions, decisions...
— I'm not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.

I am probably guilty of guitar greed. A sad affliction, really.
In fact I just got another, a Hallmark Swept-Wing Custom. Nice sounding guitar, BTW. Very nice.
Though at one point I counted 23 guitars, I have thinned it out substantially and now have nine including the lap steel and the bass. Three of those are totally expendable. Maybe four.
The thing is I always play a primary guitar so the rest invariably somehow devolve into a state of disrepair.

Is this a trick question, or what? At first, I thought I was more into the amps than I was into the guitars but it seems as if I currently have twelve of each:
3 Jazzmasters
1 Jaguar
1 Strat
2 Telecasters
1 Les Paul
1 Hallmark Custom 60
1 P Bass
2 Acoustics
5 Showman Amps
2 Bandmasters
1 Bassman
1 Twin Reverb
2 Epiphones
1 Silvertone
1 Kustom PA
All my amps were made between '62 and '72. The best overall one is the '68 Showman with the Torres inspired mods and the EV-15Ls. I counted about 20 misc speakers lying around. My basement is really quite a mess. I feel right at home there.
Now, what guitar do I pick up first? AVRI Jazzmaster #1. It beats the crap out of everything else I have, hands down.
Oh, I just remembered, I have an Acoustisonc Jr. over at Woody's house.

Currently 11 guitars of various electric & acoustic styles.
(And as ToneBoy pointed out, 1 very supportive wife)
Dennis, you ask why? I say, why not.

Ten Guitars, including a Hallmark Custom 60 on it's way.
Why? They all sound different, and because I love most types of American Roots music, especially guitar driven styles, they all serve different purposes.
It could be much worse, but my wife keeps me in check.

Same here. 5 electrics. JM, Jag, my lipsitick equipped avenger with 5 way switching for strat tones, my austin special for anything you'd cover with a dano or tele, and my Hamer Diablo for humbucking stuff. It looks like a metal machine but it's a dead ringer for an SG tone wise with your eyes closed. JB in the bridge, 59 in the neck with 5 way switching for coil splitting and the most amazing build quality you can imagine. Only cost me around $500 for a handmade US guitar. Okay so it has 24 frets, a floyd rose and a reverse headstock
