Permalink TANK TROUBLE

HEY GUYS

I've recently had some problems with my tank. Tonite the reverb kept kicking in and out and the signal was popping. I've taken it apart and luckily I have a set of tubes ready for it, I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and if it might be something other than tubes.

Any help would be great!

"Kicking in and out and popping" sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I'd clean and re-tension the tube socket contacts before installing the new tubes. Also check the connectors on the tank itself and the input/output jacks. Worst case scenario is probably a bad solder joint somewhere (is this a reissue tank with a PCB?), but even that is a pretty simple fix for anyone moderately talented with a soldering iron.

Don

I cleaned and retensioned the sockets. It is a re issue tank with some modifications... PCB.... are those the red/white RCA type connectors?? Anyway I replaced the 6K6 tube and the unit, disassembled sounded okay through a small practise amp. I'm going to the reheresal spot to test it on my full rig to see what happens.

Also as an unrelated question, how bad is making the tank "crash"?

Wiggle the RCA cables while the unit is on. They may be bad.

It must have just been the tubes... I played it last night fully reassembled and had no problems whatsoever. Thanks for the help!

I also wanted to know if shaking your tank to get the "crash" noise is bad for the tank in any manner. I know alot of surf bands do it...but is it going hurt the tank/tubes/speakers etc???
