Could that J.M. of possibly been a S.Burst at one time,
or is that just the way the light might be reflecting on the finish? Confused

Thanks - The Jazzmaster IS awesome - I got it in a trade with Reverb Mike here on SG101 - it had some body and neck finish damage from a rubber guitar stand - I repaired the damaged paint, and painted the peghead while I was touching up the body. It plays sweet - I strung it with Pyramid flats - these strings are worth the money I think Off Topic

This whole weekend was crazy! it was the 11th annual Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly weekend - 4 days and nights of everything Rockabilly. Tons of bands - 2 at a time in 2 different ballrooms at the Gold Coast Casino. Lots of vendors selling vintage a new clothing, cd's, hair products etc. Killer car show on Saturday. Pool party on Sunday - Probably over 1000 rockabilly fans there from all over the world. I met several who came over from Germany, and some from France, and Sweden too.

I didn't know what to expect - I'd never been to anything like this. I hoped we would go over with the crowd, but i wasn't too sure.... We were the lounge band for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9pm to 1am. We played (3) 35-40 minute sets, and then a long 4th set each night. The crowd was unreal - the room was pretty packed, probably 100 people at all times in there, and the edge of the lounge was packed with people trying to get in, or just check out the music. Excellent crowd that was really fun to play for because they were into it. The band got better as each set went on, and as the nights went on. By the end of the 3rd night, we were playing really well. The crowd brought a ton of energy for us to feed off.

We got lots of positive comments - and they seemed to understand that surf was all instrumental. We had some dancers every night too. I saw several people watch all our sets every night. Very cool.

There was a bitchin' fight on Saturday night, and while the security guards came running, we fired up "Rumble" which we never play anymore - we played it again the next night, and the crowd went absolutely crazy - I think we're gonna start playing it again....

I met a ton of cool people. And I saw lots of crazy rockabilly hair. Laughing

That's awesome guys, congrats! Now I know why Chris grew out the 'burns. Smile

Off Topic What did you do for a decal on the black JM Chris? Did you get a Fender one? It looks nice!

Yes - thats why the 'burns - they're gone now - too grey....

I used a Jazzmaster decal I bought online after a google search and cut off the black lettering - then I buried it in clear - it did turn out nice, if I do say so.

Great report guys, thanks,

I had thought about coming over for this.

But I knew it was gonna be a zoo,

Forgot to mention - at the pool party The DynoTones and The Volcanics played - both bands were great. Dynotones sound was perfect - I particularly liked the Volcanics - they did an unreal version of Eddie and The Showmen's "Scratch" and some cool vocals too - they have the "60's surf band" look and sound nailed.

talked to Tim Fitzpatrick for quite a while about the "old" days - what a cool guy to talk to.

also saw Tiki Tena several times, but never got to really say more than "hi"

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?
