Permalink Ibanez Jazzmaster???

New Topic

Saw this listed on Craigslist Los Angeles as a 1975 Ibanez Jazzmaster.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/msg/642789816.html

Anyone know anything about this guitar. Looks like one of those "lawsuit" copycat guitars from the early 1970's. Generally, they made a quality product, but I didn't even know a jazzmaster copy was out there. Any info--and is the price right?

Goober,
I might be wrong about this, but it looks as though the pickups have chrome covers???? Something like P-90s w/chrome covers, but no dog ears. Or is it the way the camera took the pic?? $625 worth it??? I guess that depends if you are an Ibanez collector, and if you are looking for the Lawsuit Era guitars. But as far as looking for a J.M. for $625, I would probably spend a couple of extra bucks and get yourself a nice Japanese J.M. If you're not strapped for cash, you might want to look into spending the extra dough for an AVRI, or better yet if possible, a Real McCoy Mr. Green

Yeah, the other pics on the craigslist post show chrome pick-up covers. Also, no switches on the upper horn.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience on how these play--I have a '70 Ibanez that is a copy of a Gibson Howard Roberts that is really a good guitar. These lawsuit guitars were supposed to be a cheaper knock-off of expensive Gibsons, etc., and turned out to have really good build quality. But I've never seen a jazzmaster clone.

It could be a collector that you wouldn't be afraid to play alot, but the electronics might be pretty weak. Not many vintage 70's guitars left that you can buy for $600.
