I'm so excited! I'll be seeing them at the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, OR. This will be my third time seeing them. The last time, I helped them load their gear in, and got to stand sidestage and watch them soundcheck....AWESOME.
I know they aren't technically all surf, but they're surf enough! With tons of reverb and tremolo on every song....
Last year at the Alladin theater, Portland:
In case you've never heard them:

Yeah they are pretty damn cool. And they do have a couple of surfy songs that are really good. Rick is an awesome guitar player.

Meximelt and Rumors of Surf are the surfy songs I was thinking of. But their other stuff is great too.

They do put on a hell of a good show. We actually do a couple of their instrumental surf tunes in our set. Good people, good music.

Of course, they stayed after to sign autographs last time. They all signed a Tele pickguard for me.

I think I've seen SCOTS three times. Each time they put on one helluva
show. And what's really cool is that they stay and chat with the fans
afterwards--sometimes even beforehand. I talked to Mary for a bit
before a few of the shows. Last time (now this was at least five years
ago) they came to Johnstown (PA), I got to ask her about their tour
with Link Wray. She told me he was crazy--and not in a good way.
The Reverend Horton Heat is the same way--they'll often stick around
afterwards. I remember talking to Jimbo (the bass player) after one
show, and told him that I first saw them open for The Cramps back in
1992. He told me a bit about that tour (I think it was their first national
tour), and what a great time it was for them.
