Ok, I see you guys have dealt with Tendonitis in the other thread. I think I've got carpal tunnel. My left wrist (I'm right handed, so that's my fretting hand) has hurt consistently for about a week. I've been trying to lay off playing but we had a show a few days ago and another one this weekend. I've also been helping people rebuild a porch and moving all my stuff from one apartment to another, so there's been a lot to irritate it. After this weekend I'll have some time off. Should I wear a brace?

Richard, wear a brace. Not because the brace itself will heal anything, but so you'll be less likely to use that hand thus letting it heal faster. When you overstrain your hand the only thing to do is let it rest. You can try rubbing 'sports creme' or tiger balm on it to help relieve the pain. It may take 6 to 8 weeks for all the pain to go away. I'm a carpenter myself so I've had experience in this. You'll need to pay attention to the pain signals your body sends you before it gets this bad in the future.
Good luck,

Yeah, these types of injuries suck and they become more annoying with age.
Wear the brace. It does make a difference and acts as the constant reminder to take it easy.
