Well, it was going to happen sooner or later, so I may as well be the first one to walk the plank!
Seriously though, how many of us have "nicknames for your guitars?? At first when you read this, it sounds nuts, but after all, you have B.B. King with "Lucille" as well as Clapton's "Blackie." And there are many more out there, but these 2 come to mind very quickly. Over the years, my Wife has given nicknames to some of my guitars (yes I have ended up naming the others as well) and even our Bass Player has named some of the guitars as well as his Basses. Most of the Mosrites have the name titles such as "Blondie" which is actually natural, "Pearl" you all know which color that is, then I have others such as "Bluebird" which is a Blueburst with the grain showing thru (rare factory option from Mosrite on my Combo, etc, etc, etc. And again, some of us might have an "actual story" as how your guitar got its name.
OK, so, now's your turn to FESS UP! And you don't have to give your name if you don't want to, you can remain anonymous (LOL)

I've thought about naming my guitar, but haven't really come up with anything that I like. One idea I've only playfully (as in, not very seriously) kicked around is the name "God." That way whenever I plug in I can "play God."
...aren't I clever?
I actually do like Dick Dale's naming of "the Beast." That's a very fitting name. If I ever do end up with a real name for my guitar I hope it would fit something like that.

I have a honey blond Strat with copper colored pickguard and gold hardware that I call "Blondie." My son calls his saphire blue Strat "Jackie" after the song "Jackie Blue" by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Our other guitars have names as well, but those two stand out the most. I took a shot of my son with our guitars, I should probably send it along!

My first electric guitar, a cheap old red thing that someone had shot bbs into the back of, was named Buddy Holly. I've never named my current guitar. I've tried thinking of a couple, but none ever stuck.

Josh was nagging me to name my first bass a few months after I got it, so I decided to name it "Bassy".
I decided to name my next couple basses Bassy 2, Bassy 3, and Bassy 4. Only my Jaguar Bass has a real thought out name.

I call mine "the reason I am not rich"
No not really. I want to have names for em, but it's kinda like a tattoo, I want one but can't find something worthy. But I do have two that kinda have names.
My LP special is called "epiphany" because the last couple of owners have had at least one moment of... well awesome moments with it.
So I guess for me they have to earn a name.

I love my guitars, but I think naming them is among the silliest things I have ever heard, and that includes BB and what's his name, the former Cream guy...

Jack Bruce?
I tried naming them, but then I realized it was dumb(Rio politely used Silly). I think you need a really strong connection to a single guitar, and everybody needs to associate you with that guitar for it to truly have a name. I bet in many cases names come from other people than the guitarist. Could be friends, fellow bandmates, or road crew who have to keep track of the guitars.
Pete Townshend named his guitars and even put their names on them.

Jack Bruce?
Nah, Jake, I was thinking of the other guy, used to mess around with George Harrison's girl... oh well, I'm sure it'll come to me one of these days.
Also, I don't have a problem with numbering them is a good idea, just to keep track of them all (although maybe not such big numbers, and maybe not on the front of the body)
