oh, of course it's the ultimate surf amp - you'd have to be crazy to think differently.

Jake,
the showman is the ultimate surf amp, but not all people want the ultimate sound.
so go figure.

more to the point, what's the ultimate surf amp
blackface
blonde
whatever amp and cabinet, but redone with blonde cosmetics, cause surf is all about looks.

I don't get why the dual would be any better... they make speakers with different loads for a reason.

I still say that I like the Twin Reverb just as well. I have both, and would have a hard time choosing. That's just me, though...
Sorry, just had to say it.

FYI: The purpose of this thread is a dig at Jake's obnoxious comment on the wiki thread. Don't take the subject too seriously on this one.

There are only two kinds of surf guitarists---those who play through a brown/blonde Showman, and those who wish they could.
Cuz dude, they totally rawk. If U don't play one, then U R lame! If Travis Barker who is the most AWESOME drummer played guitar instead, then he would use a Showman and would blow all of you away, because he would be like a million times better.
(Oh, and Dario wouldn't say it, but I would save up for his "Surfer" amp!)

A brownface Showman is THEE ONLEE SURF AMP. All else are poseurs in the extreme, but especially those hodads with the blackface Showmans, I mean come on, that's like driving a 85 Cadillac Cimarron and thinking you're as cool as the guys with the 59 Eldos. Forget it.
Now, for everything else except surf, nothing rawks like a Gorilla:

I totally had a Gorilla amp like that - I traded it for 2 packs of flatwound strings - stupidest thing I've ever done .........

Ha. My first amp was a Gorilla GG-60 in 1986. I recall being impressed with the "tube-stack" knob at the time. My parents were less impressed.
