One of the all time great tunes not to be missed is "Araban" by the Treble Spankers. Not only a great song but the narative knock's me out.

I had heard they were working on a more completely realized take, with full orchestration, at the time of Rip's death. I'm curious to know how far along they had got with that.

It's on the agenda but with Sticks welcoming a new tot last month and Trace responsible for another one due in October, I wouldn't expect anything in the near future. Keep your fingers crossed for '07.

"her hair as black as the socks of dirty Sanchez, the famous banditio from Mechico ..." or something along those lines, can't remember exactly.

Los Plantronics from norway have spaggetti western and mariachi stuff as well. they play a great version of hang 'em high, it's on an album called 'columbian necktie'.

"... I tried to hold on to a cactoose, but it was too late..."

That has to be my favorite.

Araban:

Six years I spent looking for her
Six years of travelling through mountains and deserts, looking for the love I lost
Araban, the most beautiful muchacha South of the Rio Grande
The times I spent with her were the happiest of my life
Her lips were as red as the Mexican catcus rose
Her hair, as black as the socks from Sancho del Castile, the famous mendaho who stole from the rich and killed the poor
The cleavage between her breasts was as deep as the cliffs from Acapulco

One night she went outside to buy a pack of Caballeros, and I never saw here since
What happened to her? Nobody saw her leave
What happened to Araban? Nobody knew a thing
What the hell happened to my beautiful baby?

All those years that I travelled to find her trail she visited me in my dreams, every single night
"Come and get me, come and get me" she whispers
When she is about to tell me where she is, she vanishes, in a fog
One bad day I crossed the red desert
I drank too much mezcal and so did Burrito, my horse
We stumbled and I fell
I tried to hold on to a cactus
But it was too late
Days later I opened my eyes and found that I was in a hospital
"Who's that over there?" I asked the doctor who took care of us
"It's Senorita ...(a whole bunch of Spanish sounding names)... del Hogbath. She came in six years ago and she never spoke a word"
But I knew better
I recognized her body
Those voluptuous curves
"Araban"
"Araban"
And when she heard her name, she turned her head
And her eyes were filled with tears...

What's missing from this is the outrageous accent. Laughing

I would like to hear more of this. Jeff??? I used to not like Spaghetti Western as much, but Jeff has introduced me to some great stuff.

Sorry I missed this thread on the first go-round. Let's see, what can I add? All the current spaghetti-surf bands have been mentioned.

Everything I know about Morricone is on this page, graciously hosted by Ferenc: http://www.pollodelmar.com/mart/morricone/index.html

My reviews of a bunch of spaghetti soundtracks are on this page, graciously hosted by Jon Deadman: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jon.fagg/Dawg.htm.

There's a current British band called Spaghetti West, but there stuff is more atmospheric than surf-like.

Has anybody heard the Reverburritos?
I just heard a very Spaghetti Western sounding song of theirs called Tin Star on Delvarsurf.

Also not entirely spaghetti, but a great band,
Surf Report has a song called Off the Richeter on
Supersonic Salvation that is pretty Spaghetti sounding

Here's a great little band from my hometown, Melbourne Australia, who do lots of the tracks and music from the movies.

Unsurprisingly, they're called - The Ennio Morricone Experience

The Reverburritos are great. I think the guitar player (Tim?) is a member here.

Clint Beachwood played a cover of Hang em High by Mr. Nuetron( really good east coast band) that has the song on a upcoming spaghetti surf comp called six gun surf i think. anybody got any info on that?

Does anyone know what kind of lead guitar was used in the recording
"The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" ???

...i always thought it sounded like a Jazzmaster through one of those cheap-ass European amplifiers...like a VOX! Wink (just kidding, Ivan)

Hmmmm it sure doesn't sound like a Fender?? maybe one of those cheap unkown axe's???

Just about every Sadies album has at least 2 songs that nail the spagetti sound pretty good.

We (monsters from mars) have a couple spaghetti western-ish songs...one of them was on our last CD release called "The Long Ride Home". We just wrote another one that I think of as the theme to "A Fistfull of Dollars" meets "Gear" by Dave Myers and The Surftones...were going to be recording that one soon for our upcoming full length.

Ivan is right about the guitar. I have read that Allesandro plated a Jazzmaster for the Good Bad & Ugly. Don't know about the amp.

Tremolo Beer Gut has a definite twangy "busghetti" western sound. I wish they would get another album out because I NEVER get tired of their stuff.
