I have a 1982/1983 Fender Bassman 70 Head(no cabinet yet) will it surf? And what speakers should I get? 212,215, 410, 115?? I would appreciate any advise. Thank you.

82-83 are the last good years of Fender rigs I think point to point it'll surf killer no doubt Rock go for a 2x12 cab and throw in 2 Weber model "Vintage Series" 12F150T at 50watts each 8 Ohms each but check the Ohms on your head 1st before your order any speakers!
excellent excellent livley crisp detailed vintage color to the tone with tons of head room volume and punch.

imo any amp will surf... BUT... afaik this is the same as a late seventies UL silverface which got blackface cosmetics. it's very far away from a blackface or blonde bassman, completly different amp alltogether. These amps are generally not considered very good for guitar, I only have experience with an UL twin and I didnt like it very much though Id still prefer it over a marshall-type amp for surf. I had a 75 combo too though (also an early 80's UL amp) which I did lik a lot. It will do the job but dont expect a wonderfull warm vintage tubesound.

these are fine bassamps though, albeit a bit underpowered for full-on live gigs with a surf band. I suggest you choose speakers well, play your music and whenever you run into a bit of cash again, sell the head and get a 'true' blackface bandmaster or bassman (or whatever amp you really want) and untill than there's nothing wrong with using the amp.
