Okay, I finally have installed the new event calendar and imported the existing upcoming events into it. This is a beta test period. Please let me know what you think and if you find any bugs, problems, etc. Also, please give me suggestions and feedback.
It works basically the same as the old one.
You may need to clear your browser's cache before it looks right. Probably not, but try that if it looks weird first.
I've tested it in IE and Firefox. Maybe a Mac guy can try it in Safari. I added some fancy Javascript to support repeating events. Maybe someone could submit a test event (put test event or something in the title and any comments in the description box). Especially a Mac person.
I have a cheesy little icon for the calendar. It's okay, just a bit pedestrian. If anyone would like to design a graphic for the title of the new calendar that is custom for this site, please post it here or email it to me.
Oh yeah, the right block on the front page that shows upcoming events is new too. Check it out.
Again, I want any and all feedback. This is something I am going to release to the world eventually, so your help is appreciated.
THANKS!!!

Brian,
The calendar looks good.
I submitted an event on March 9 (using Safari).

Yeah, might be alright. We're looking forward to it.

Seemed to work fine with Safari. I didn't hit any snags. Nice work.

Thanks a lot Rick. Did you try the repeating event options (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly). Did the little boxes appear and disappear correctly when you did?
(So is that 3 1 hour sets at the car show? Wish I could be there for that! Are there any other Volcanos gigs coming up? )

Yep, that seemed to work.

Yeah 45minâhour sets. We're planning on learning a few covers to fill the time.
We have another show pending right now. It'll get posted it if it happens.

Hey Brian........looks great and works fine on Safari. I stopped using the calendar cause there wasn't that much space on your "home" page and we wanted to leave room for others, but shoots......now we'll list all our gigs. I couldn't make it repeat each week when we were on Fridays but it works fine now. Thank you for alllllll of your hard work......and thanks for posting that TO's pic yesterday. I had a meeting with the Shearaton and i was showing off all the web stuff i've been doing and they were impressed with that photo. Go figure.........! Mahalo and Aloha from sunny Kauai.

I'm working on the calendar. I'm adding an RSVP feature so people can sign up for events, and you can see a list of people that signed up. The person creating the event has the option of being notified via email when someone RSVP's or cancels.
If anyone has any other ideas for the calendar, let me know.

The RSVP feature is now on. When you submit an event, you have the option of turning on RSVP (no, yes, yes with email notifications). If you pick one of the "yes" options people can sign up and they will be displayed along with the event details. If you say "yes with email" you will be emailed when people sign up or cancel.
There have been a couple of other minor improvements.
Let me know if the above feature is useful and if you see any problems (you guys are my beta-testers )

I don't understand what the RSVP function is for.
just a list of who is going...
it'll be blank or very little all the time.
ha ha ha
I'm such a pesimist.

It is a list of who is going, yes. And the event creator can get emailed as people add themselves. I added it because someone requested it for another site. It may be useful here, who knows. Might be nice to see if any SG101 members are going that way you'll know to look for new faces or something.

A new feature was added to the calendar a while back that not too many people are aware of. If you submitted an event, you can edit it in case the info changes. No need to PM me or submit another event. Just navigate to the event and look under the event description. There should be an "Update Event" link that you can click on to change the details.
Also, when you submit an event, like a gig, please include the full address including the STATE. Thanks.
