I'd buy it if it had XLR inputs. I've been thinking about buying : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MAudio-MobilePre-USB-Portable-Audio-Interface?sku=701368V or this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MAudio-Fast-Track-USB-Computer-Recording-Interface?sku=703606 |

Yeah, there are better options if you are recording live with mics. This was a killer deal for bedroom use with all the amp modelers and such. As to the two you're looking at, the quality of my M-Audio Black Box continues to impress me in terms of quality of the jacks and pots. I'm sure a simpler thing like what you're looking at would be absolutely bombproof. |

Thanks for the tip. Part of me really wants a physical multi-track recorder that records onto SD, Compact Flash, XD, or some other sort of memory card and then transfer it to my computer to edit the tracks. I've recorded to my computer direct before via XLR, and I still have the capablity to do so with home brew radio shack stuff but I'd rather have M-Audio stuff if I were going to record direct via XLR. However, part of me really finds the recording first to a multi-track much more romantic. |
