It is a from of tapping not glissando slide.
If that means it ain't surf though, then why would someone playing a phrase like that suddenly stop it being surf.?.?.?
does that mean if I use a whole tone bend It stops being surf aswell.?
I'm gonna play it using humbuckers now, or does that not qualify as surf.?

okay, always open for suggestions, I gave it some thought. machinegun picking is usually used on one note held for a longer time.... I can't see how you could do that with tapping at all .... except for one thing - you can fret a melody with your left hand and get an octave with the tapping hand - alternativly, you could tap an octave+interval for a mandolin/sympho kind of double voicing effect. I imagine it would get into daikaju/ crazy surf coatsers territory and it would completly be not my cup of tea, but I can see how it would work somewhat. curious though how tapping would work out on a clean guitar through a tank.

PS I put the shred phrase in my sig just cause I liked it, nothing personal.

How about tapping a pedal point of the octave higher than the final note of a gliss. This makes the gliss resolve better.
It may be that it's different but, hey that's me.... I get some alien playing all the time.
Shred's not dead, it just smells funny.
ps. Thanx WR for the welcome mat.
pps. Wronski shreds big time.

I, for one, welcome our new shredmaster overlords!
Shredding is like the Force - it has a light side and a dark side. If you have a great song and play the hell out of it, it can be amazing. But if you find yourself playing things just because you can play them, then you may as well just change your name to Yngwie.
