East Bay Ray from the Dead Kennedys.
He already did that, the band was called "Jumbo Shrimp" and featured Ray and DKs bassist Klaus Fluoride both playing guitars. They put out a record called "Thingie" and that's the last I heard of 'em.
from what i hear that album is extremely rare...
Cool. Thanks for the info.

My vote would go to Will Sergeant of Echo & The Bunnymen - he is very into 60's rock n' roll, uses reverb on occasion and has a great ear for melodies. I interviewed him back in the mid-90's, but it was a year or two before I dove into surf music full-on and I didn't think to ask him what he thought of surf music.

How about Joey Santiago and Kim Deal from the Pixies?
The Pixies had a few "surf-like" tunes...it would be cool to hear them go full-bore surf!

Will Sergeant--yeah, that would be sweeet!!
I heard that the Pixies had Dick Dale open for them at least one time, because Frank Black loves surf music so much.

I dunno.............he may have already done something like this .......Brian Setzer.
He came damned close, with Stray Cats, and their song "Rumble In Brighton."

They covered Ceclia Ann, full bore and them some. Franck Black also recorded an original surf song on a short CD but fell short of the mark I think.
I'd like to hear Pere Ubu do some surf.

On the "Hang on to Your Ego" CD single? Yeah, that one was pretty disappointing. Long, too.

I Googled Richard Wright
track, DROP IN FROM THE TOP
album, WET DREAM
wonderful, and Floyd-ish
UNSTEADY FREDDIE
I've always like that album a lot.
Snowy White was the guitarist on that album. He's great.
Did stints with Thin Lizzy, 2nd guitar for Floyd, Peter Green
and way more. His solo stuff is good, but the vocals are not
super strong.
